I finished!
1. What did you think of this book? 3
2. Did you enjoy the multiple POVs and characters? Honestly, it took me out of the story a little bit. I wasn't really sure of the reason why the secondary romance was necessary.
3. How was the relationship between the main couple, Isabelle and Jake, for you? I liked the romance between them and felt it was very realistic, but I felt a little disconnected to them at the same time. I'm not sure if it was the result of all the hopping around, the writing style, or the vague ending.
4. How does Jake measure up as a military hero for you? He was a pretty hot military guy!
5. Dangerous Hero rating out of 10? 8
6. Hero Hotness Scale out of 10? 8
7. Any other thoughts on this book? I hated the endings for both of the storylines here. I felt Isabelle and Jake's was entirely too vague and I got no closure from it. As for Sarah and Clutch, that was just bad all around. If their story ends there, I will be highly upset.
8. Will you finish this series? I will...I loved the other brothers, maybe more than Jake even.
9. What other books like this would you recommend? I actually like Stephanie Tyler's more recent Shadow Force series better than this one. Maya Banks KGI series is great, too.

1. What did you think of this book? 1-5 stars or rating out of 10. I gave this four stars because I was sucked in and I liked the characters and the idea, and I think she did a good job of bringing it to life. Not a perfect book, but I really enjoyed it.
2. Did you enjoy the multiple POVs and characters?
Yes and no. It was kind of hard to keep up with what was going on, and I felt the scene shifts were too awkward. I felt that some POVs got more time than needed, and others less than necessary.
3. How was the relationship between the main couple, Isabelle and Jake, for you?
I really liked their relationship. I thought that the author did a great job of building their relationship, showing good chemistry and real emotion and love between them. I'm glad there was no rush to go to bed together. That would have been inappropriate to me (in light of Isabelle's recent traumatic past).
4. How does Jake measure up as a military hero for you? I thought Jake was a good military hero. I feel that the action scenes weren't as powerful as they could have been. I like action to be intense, and I think it's hard to write. A lot of writers tell instead of showing. Ms. Tyler tended to do this, but I feel she will get better with each book. I liked the raw material here.
5. Dangerous Hero rating out of 10? 7/10
6. Hero Hotness Scale out of 10? 8/10
7. Any other thoughts on this book? I am sucked in enough to read the next books.
8. Will you finish this series? Yes!
9. What other books like this would you recommend? I think that as far as Navy SEALs, the Brockmann books are good. I don't read Lora Leigh (too erotic), so I can't say anything about hers. I would like to see more non-erotic, action-oriented SEAL romance.

1. What did you think of this book? 1-5 stars or rating out of 10. I gave it 2.5 stars. It pulled me in from the start, no "boring, but I'll stick with it." Fell flat for me though, about 4 or 5 chapters in.
2. Did you enjoy the multiple POVs and characters? I usually don't mind this, but in this book it just made it choppy and disjointed.
3. How was the relationship between the main couple, Isabelle and Jake, for you? I liked Isabelle, didn't love her but she wasn't boring or uninteresting to me, but Jake... Well, he just didn't hit the right notes with me. Their relationship never really meshed with me, either.
4. How does Jake measure up as a military hero for you? He was a super military hero! He does score high there.
5. Dangerous Hero rating out of 10? 8.5
6. Hero Hotness Scale out of 10? 6.5 (He was a little too closed off to rank higher)
7. Any other thoughts on this book? Why did we need the secondary romance, because it read even flatter and uninteresting to me. I thought those pages could have been used to get me to like Jake more.
8. Will you finish this series? If I do, it won't be a priority.
9. What other books like this would you recommend? Trying to think of options here, but coming up blank. I remember a Suzanne Brockmann book or Cindy Gerard's Black Ops, Inc. series. I guess I'm more a FBI/cop kind of gal. ;-)

1. What did you think of this book? 1-5 stars or rating out of 10. So far, it's a 3.
2. Did you enjoy the multiple POVs and characters? I didn't find the secondary characters compelling enough to warrant spending so much time in their heads.
3. How was the relationship between the main couple, Isabelle and Jake, for you? So far, I'm liking them together, but I'm not convinced their good for one another.
4. How does Jake measure up as a military hero for you? Loving him.
5. Dangerous Hero rating out of 10? I'd say 8 so far.
6. Hero Hotness Scale out of 10? 8
7. Any other thoughts on this book? I don't like all the flashbacks tossed in here and there. I'm not a flashback fan anyway, and it's kind of different the way she does it, taking us INTO the scene, not just reading about it.
8. Will you finish this series? I own them, so probably yes.
9. What other books like this would you recommend? Pamela Clare's I-Team first off, then Marliss Melton, Cindy Gerard and Suz Brockmann.
Sometimes it works for me, Danielle, but it just seemed unnecessary in this book. The secondary characters had too small a connection to the main couple, in my opinion.

That's what I meant when I said I didn't find them compelling enough to warrant so much time in their heads.

I generally like multiple POVs, it just didn't work here. At all. lol
You reminded me to put a spoiler warning in the thread title, Dhestiny.
Heather you do have to take the good with a bad. I do pretty well with books. If I read a dud now and again, I can easily shrug it off too.

1. What did you think of this book? 1-5 stars or rating out of 10. It's a 3 star.
2. Did you enjoy the multiple POVs and characters? I still feel that the secondary characters were not compelling enough to warrant spending so much time in their heads. I didn't feel that Clutch and Sarah were all that necessary to the plot and could have been done without by doing some story tweaking. I wasn't that interested in their parts in it all.
3. How was the relationship between the main couple, Isabelle and Jake, for you? Well, in the end, I didn't like them together. I felt that they didn't really make each other better people, and it seemed like a 1 sided relationship. I felt like Izzy was in it for all she was worth, but Jake was holding back far too long for me to buy their HEA.
4. How does Jake measure up as a military hero for you? I loved him as a military hero.
5. Dangerous Hero rating out of 10? I'd have to give him a 7 at this point. I think there wasn't enough of him in action, fighting, etc., to give him a higher rating.
6. Hero Hotness Scale out of 10? 8
7. Any other thoughts on this book? I still didn't care for all the flashbacks, though I kind of liked the way the past (in thoughts) and the present all came together for the final showdown. But again, I'm not big on getting a big chunk of the story in flashbacks.
8. Will you finish this series? I own them, so probably yes.
9. What other books like this would you recommend? Pamela Clare's I-Team first off, then Marliss Melton, Cindy Gerard and Suz Brockmann.
I can see where you're coming from, D. I think if she had spent less time on the extraneous POVs and more time on Jake, maybe you would have felt differently.

Exactly. I felt like Clutch and Sarah were fillers, and that didn't do it for me.

I hadn't considered that. If that's true then maybe by book 3 I'll be more invested in them. I imagine Chris and Nick will be the next stories. Chris with his "vision" will make for an interesting story, I think. I'd like to see Kenny (the step dad?) get a HEA.

I had been hoping things would move quicker for them. Not necessarily in bed, but romantically... and wow... it took a long time for me to realize that Izzy had been raped. I suspected, but without that confirmation I was kind of put off by her actions. She was taking things slow, and I get that, and Jake got it, but I felt it was selfish on her part because she was going a little further and further.... but I didn't know for CERTAIN that she'd been raped, know what I mean?
Maybe it's just me but I would have preferred that to be right up front because it wasn't like anything that had to be a major secret to propel the story.

She did tip-toe around the rape. I see what you mean. I liked that they didn't rush into the sex, like you said. Maybe Isabelle had to accept that it was rape, and that's why she wrote it that way.
Yes, I totally agree with that. There was no reason for that to not come out earlier, at least to the reader. It kept me a little disconnected to her character.
I also am not a fan of the storyline where one party is lying to the other for the majority of the book. After she had been betrayed by one man, Jake's betrayal felt a lot worse because he KNEW she would have a problem with it. His refusal to tell her because he was "following orders" didn't seem right for someone who supposedly had all these feelings for her.

Yes!! It kept me annoyed at her because it seemed like she was leading Jake on, or being coy in a way, and because I didn't know what had all had happened to her, I didn't sympathize with her behavior. And the author had every opportunity to tell us, because Jake had found her naked and bound... and he said later that he knew she had been raped, but still, we the readers didn't know that.
For sure, I would have been much more sympathetic to her as a heroine had I known she'd been a rape victim.

I totally agree with you. It just felt like a way to add more drama to the story, which could have been done in better ways, I think... like knowing about the rape. (I sound like a broken record, I know and I'm sorry.)

You don't need to be sorry. I can see why it's an issue. And we are having a discussion, so that's fine if you want to emphasize how much of an issue it was.
I really like Chris. I read his story blurb and I'm worried about how it will come across. As a rule, I don't like lovers reunited stories that much. But we will see.

I liked him, but I didn't like him hooking up with that chick. You know how I am about womanizers. I think he's interesting, and he has the makings to be a compelling, tortured hero.
I think I like Chris more because of his gentle, healing spirit, and he seems to connect with women. Heck, he delivered that lady's baby in the store. He had me then!
