Who are the main characters and what are their personalities? - Marina is the main character. She experienced a traumatic event which involved her father accidentally throughing some acid onto her face, during a family feud. This resulted in her gaining permant and life lasting scars on her face. She lost all her confidence and ability to socialise and became a mute. - Marina's Mother (Robyn)- Robyn comes accross as selfish and un-sympethetic. She shows no interest in her daughter and ships her off to bording school. She now does not have to worry about her and her problems. - Marina's Father (Tony): Tony was the person that shattered Marina's confidence. He threw acid onto her face unintentionally and is now in jail. Marina dispises him at the beginning of the novel but gradually regains her trust in him. - Cathy: Cathy is the closest thing Marina has to a friend throughout the book. She is really nice towards her and invites her over during the holidays. - Mr Lindel: Mr Lindel is Marina's english teacher.
