Gail (gailwerner) A former BSU prof of mine who's now a Good Reads friend (hi Beth!) told me a while back that she is tackling the books on this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulitzer...

And as soon as she said that, I thought, what a great idea!

So, because we don't have enough of a list to wade thru with TIME's selection, I thought I'd post this here to get a conversation started about another.

What I've read:
Oscar Wao
The Road
Middlesex
Empire Falls
The Hours
American Pastoral
The Color Purple
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Old Man and the Sea

Interesting that Updike makes appearances on both lists as do a few others (Toni Morrison).

Beth and Meg - I was pumped to see Anne Tyler on here!! Breathing Lessons is still one I need to tackle - it's on the shelf though!!

Meggityb | 11 comments I think I like this list better. Here's what I've read:

The Old Man and the Sea
The Fixer
To Kill a Mockingbird
Andersonville
Lonesome Dove
The Confessions of Nat Turner
A Confederacy of Dunces
Breathing Lessons! Yes! (although not her best)
Thousand Acres
Empire Falls
Shipping News
The Stone Diaries

Of course I'm happier because it's a better mix of male and female authors.

Gail, try Carol Shields. The Stone Diaries was really very interesting.
