((Have at it!))

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

Captain Azro von Yonta stood at the foredeck of his three-masted, spanish crafted Nave, The Devil's Thunder. Less than 500 yards away, with their white flag raised, coasted a small merchant Tern Schooner. In some way, this poor merchant vessel was in distress, and, being the most kind-hearted captain that he was, Azro felt obligated to assist.

"Raise the boarder flag, we'll be coming up their port side. Be ready for a quick loot lads!" He barked out to his mates, pulling out his telescope to scan their prey. In the far distance he could see the men running about the deck, their captain at the helm waving his arms.

Dagger grinned and quickly tied down a knot. His eyes feasted on the helpless ship. He touched a knife that rested on his belt. He took a moment to glance back at his captain before returning his gaze to the tired ship.

Lyric Mermaidan (ambrosiadaughterofzeus) | 175 comments Katista smiled a cold smile as she tied her knots across the deck from Dagger. She had had so much anger latly. She needed a fight to let out some steam. Hopefully this merchant ship will bring that luck

Captain Yonta took control of the helm and steered The Devil's Thunder alongside the merchant schooner. "Lower anchor," he ordered to one of his men before handing off to another pirate and striding across the deck to where a gangplank was set to cross with. He gestured for Dagger to follow and signaled for Katista to have herself ready to leap aboard when given the word.

The captain that stood before him was a plump man, the sailors surrounding him were all fit, and by the full water barrels he could tell that they had not been at sea for long.

"State your name," the captain ordered nervously. With the looks of his crew he could tell that they were edgy, in some way this ship had been down in desperation, but upon closer inspection Azro could not see any mishap along the deck, by the feel of the rocking he could also tell that there was no problem with the rigging or any outward appearances. Something tickled at the back of the captain's mind as he introduced himself.

"I am captain George Gibson, a merchant from the northern coasts of Spain, my crew and I here were on our way South towards the Ivory coast. We decided to assist you when our lookout caught sight of your schooner. Might I ask who you are?"

((Are we doing this with the real world or a fake one?))

The merchant captain gulped. "We are... um... that is to say..." the rotund man pulled out a laced kerchief to wipe his sweating bald brow. Azro waited impatiently for an answer as the incompetent man continued to stutter and gulp for breath. Quite suddenly, he seemed to calm. Looking at Azro's boots until he glanced up at him and his two mates. "We are under the orders of the royal Navy to serve as bait for a pirate ship known as the Devil's Thunder, and to tell you, Captain Yonta, that Captain Marcs sends his regards.

Azro's eyes widened in surprise just as he heard a call from the Devil's Thunder. "Ship ahoy!" Came the high pitched call. Without hesitation, before any of the burly sailors could move, Yonta whipped out his pistol and aimed it at the false captain, firing him square in the forehead.

Lyric Mermaidan (ambrosiadaughterofzeus) | 175 comments Katista's cold eyes hardened and she came across landing gracefully next to her captain. Her sword was out in a matter of seconds and it arced upward slicing up one man. It came down again in a sweeping motion cutting off the head of another. They had been standing to close to her captain for her taste. Most of the men were in shock of such bloodshed from a pretty face. But then they saw her cold eyes and they froze to the core.

message 8: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 04, 2011 03:59PM) (new)

"Dagger! Cut us a way out! Kat, keep up the rear!" Azro ordered, glancing around for something to provide them with cover. He unsheathed his silver edged rapier and took his place on Dagger's left, with Katista at his right and his second mate at his back. A large sailor charged him with a club, swinging it downwards towards the captain's head. Azro sidestepped the attack and lunged his blade forward to pierce the sailor's chest. As one sailor fell, a pair took his place, both brandishing short swords. Out of the corner of his eye, Azro caught a glimpse of the deck below bursting open to reveal an onslaught of naval soldiers coming up.
"Retreat now!" He yelled. "Weigh Anchor, prepare to cast off now!"

"Captain! It's the London Charger! She's coming on our port side fast!" A voice yelled from the Devil's Thunder. Twenty feet away from the four pirates was another pair of Azro's mates, battling it out with the sailors that blocked the gangplank that would provide their crossing to safety.

Lyric Mermaidan (ambrosiadaughterofzeus) | 175 comments A man charded at Katista as if thinkin gth ewoman would be the weakest link. he was wrong. Katista cold steal parried his out of his hand into the air where she caught it in her own. She twirled them in her slender finders before trusting one into a mans heart. That sword still in the man she spins, finally flinging the body into three of the Naval officers blocking the path.

Dagger flicked his knife up and pushed his way through the crew to slice at the rope. it frayed dramatically, but didn't cut through all the way.

"Go!" He shouted, after he realized there was another rope attaching Devil's Thunder to the supposed merchant boat. He'd have to cut it from the source if he wanted Devil's Thunder to be free.

Dagger unsheathed his sword and dodged an on coming opponant. someone from behind him, ditched his sword and instead tackled Dagger. Dagger turned, kicked him off and stumbled back up to the gun rail. He took one look at the knotted rope and flipped his knife in his hand once, twice and finally, he tossed it. The knife shreaded the rope. Dagger grinned, turned and kicked a man under the chin. the man lurched backward and fell upon his comrades. Dagger reached down, picked up a ropeand tied it off quickly. He then charged down two other sailors and closelibned them with the rope, he then sumersaulted and landed next to his captain and Katista.
((Yeah, I don't know why THAT one had to be so long. Sorry, I'm a bit out of it....))
***
Meanwhile...
"Sails ho!"
Captain Marcs hands shot towards his spying glass. he quickly shoved the contraption up to his eye and hopefully gazed through.
"It's her. It's Devil's Thunder." e muttered under his breath. He closed the spying glass and looked down at his expectant crew.
"This time for sure, men. Full speed ahead! Let's take her port side. If the crew fires upon on, open fire, lads. Now get at it!" he added harshly, snapping the spying glass shut and returning it to his belt.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

"Set sail! All hands on deck! Full speed! Follow the wind and we may be able to speed our way out of this!" Azro shouted, continuing to fire his pistol at the merchant crew as his mates climbed to the helm, relieving the pirate from his duties to take over and maneuver them from the side of the ship.
"Ready canons on the Port side! They'll be coming up if we don't have ourselves ready!" He angled the Devil's Thunder from the side of the merchant vessel. Several sailors launched grappels along the side of the deck, locking on to the Nave and weighing them down, already another boarding plank was set, with soldiers pouring through. The London Charger was only a short distance away, already Azro could catch a glimmer off the rim of the captain's silver telescope. "Marcs," He muttered.

Lyric Mermaidan (ambrosiadaughterofzeus) | 175 comments Katista held soldiers that came across with her two swords. She felt her nerves increase. Something was wrong, she could feel it in her gut. Katista was a supersticious woman had often got teased for it. But this was a down right back feeling. As soon as that thought crossed her mind she was barly able to parrie a swrod flyin gher way. SHe had gotten distracted. Shaking her head she went back to killing and throwing men over board.

Dagger darted amongst the crew, shoving the enemy over board. He ducked and dodged past blows and swords. he proudly returned the blows with surety.

One brave member stod before him and flashed a sword at him. The man twirled it around threateningly and Dagger had to take a step or two back to avoid the sword.

Finally, tired with the opponents pride, Dagger swung out his pistol and shot the man in annoyance.

However, while the man with the sword had distracted him, another crew member had taken advantage f the situation. He pulled out a knife and threw it at Dagger's Back. The knife landed solidly below his shoulder. Dagger gasped in pain and surprise and stumbled forward against the gunrail.
***

"We're up on their side, captain!"
Marcs held up his hand.
"Wait-- they know they are out numbered and out gunned. Perhaps they'll com aboard willingly and we can present them in front of a proper court.
The man nodded and repeated the order.
"Steady," Marcs called.

"Do I look 'alright'?" He growled between clenched teeth.

"Bloody--!" Dagger howled as he pushed Katista away. "You're some kinda of crazy!" he hissed. He noticed the fight was returnin to the gunrail, so he grasped his sword once more and tried to stand fimrly. However, despite his efforts, he knees remained weak and wobbly.
((MWHAHA i love haveing my characters miserable))

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Azro glanced to his left, his men had slowly fallen into a frenzy, attacking the merchant ship with gusto, disregarding his orders. As for his right...
He glared in hatred toward the London Charger, their men had not yet come to their Starboard side, but it was only a matter of time. He began to think furiously on how to pull out to sea. With men on both sides they could only move forward, but being held down by the grapples and the boarding would serve as a problem. Not only that, but should the London Charger come to also hold their side, they'd be ship-locked.

"Katista! cut the grapple lines! Dagger, have the men set sail, we're retreating now! Toss out the boarders and we'll leave these sea dogs at our backs! Hands below! Fire Canon at the London Charger don't let them lock us on both sides!" He yelled, bringing his rapier up high to block an attack from a burly sailor.

Dagger's pride was cut low as he leaned up against Katista. He weakly parried the oncoming attacks form his side, gritting his teeth and locking his knees. his sword was no longer seeking out a tactic; he was now slicing at his enemy at random. his blade caught the throat of one man and blood sprayed all across Daggers clothing and face.

When he heard his captain's orders, he looked throught he chaos.

"You heard the captain! Set sail, you dogs!" Dagger shouted, nearly falling in the effort to sound strong and fierce. He dug a knife from his belt and threw it at an attacking man. the knife landed slickly in the man's chest and he fell back in shock.
**

Marcs watched eagerly.

Azro would retreat....he'd have to!! Marcs watched and tried desperately to keep his emotions in check as he watched the sails unfold.

"They're trying to escape--FIRE!" He ordered.

((er, so whats the plan here?))

"Just don't move for a bit and we'll be out of here. Marcs won't be getting this booty today," He promised grimly before continuing on. By the time he had finished the last line, the Devil's Charge was billowing beneath the wind, their slight and agile Nave was pulling through the small gap faster than the London Charger could close off. What soldiers remained were dispatched and thrown overboard. Things weren't over yet however.
"Keep her steady, continue to sail with the wind! If we sail straight on to the West we'll be in the clear!" He urged, running back up to the quarter deck where he'd get a better view of the London Charger.

"Surrender!" Marcs shouted.

The entire crew of about 150 men were at the ready with cannons and pistols, ready to destroy teh ship.

For a moment, all was quiet.

"Captain," Dagger called.

Azro stood tall, glaring at Marcs with pure hatred. Every fiber of his being sought to overthrow this man, to bring him down from his high and mighty naval vessel. But with a glance to his battered crew, he knew they wouldn't stand a chance... so they'd have to do it a different way.
"Curse you Marcs..." He swore before throwing down his silver edged rapier. Gesturing for his men to do the same.

Marcs didn't have to say anything to Azro. But to his men, he quickly said:
"Take the ship gentlemen."
It was a flurry of movement as the Navy officers took control of teh ship and the pirates dropped their swords. Dagger was helping support Katista, but he regretfully dropped his sword, pistol, and knives.
"Katista, let the nice men take your weapons," Dagger growled, "we'll get 'em a different day."

"Take them to the brig, men," Marcs said triumphantly, not letting his eyes waver as he stared down Azro. "And don't even think about trying to escape," Marcs muttered under his breath to Azro, "because my men are prepared at all times to shoot anyone who isn't where they should be.
"Then they should'a shot you when you came on board." Dagger mumbled between gritted teeth as he passed. in turn, an officer punched him in the gut and Dagger, sore, pale from bloodloss and frustrated that his captain had to put up with that awful navy was then half dragged, half stumbled across the gnagplank that led to to the London Charger. Devil's thunder would probably be tied up behind them and dragged along-- the thought of it made Dagger slightly sick.

"Your men need to learn some decency Marcs. They're quite sloppy with their work," Azro smiled as his hands were tied behind his back. His eyes darted about the ship, taking in the situation with an analyzing mind as he broke apart specific scenarios and methods to break free. Should he play his cards right...
