All Things Summer Challenge

Duration - June 21st - September 22nd.

This is the Summer version of our Reading with the Seasons challenges. As always, you decide how to make it work for you.

Some examples:

**A character’s name is Summer.
**Many weddings take place during the summer.
**School letting out for the summer.
**Families taking summer vacations.
**Summer heat waves, swimming parties, etc.
**Books published in June, July, August or September count, as well as books in which a character or author is named June, July, August or September.
**Books with summer related words in the title such as hot, heat, vacation, sun…
**Books with summery images on the cover.
**Books that make you fan yourself!
**Books that have any kind of summer celebration like Independence Day.

*****Most importantly, if you can tie it to the summer theme, it works!*****

Please, when you post your stats updates, do it like this: x/12 or "3 down..." etc., because this way it’s much easier for me to keep track of. I’m getting older, dontchaknow!

Feel free to list your books at any time, and change them or alter your challenge right up through September 22nd.

The only restriction to this challenge is that books can only count if they were started on or after June 21st and finished by September 22nd.

One of my favorite things about summer is wearing sundresses. They are so cute and I can keep cool on super hot days. In honor of that, I am going to read 8 books with covers of beautiful dresses on it, any from the ever growing list of possibilities.

Thanks I tossed around vacation destinations and "summer words" in titles for a while. I then came up with this one :)

You decide the number, any number

Kelly, like Alycia said, you get to decide how many books you want to read, or you don't even have to choose a number. Just list them as you go. YOU get to make these challenges fit YOUR needs!

It's summer and it's super hot... So take off your shirt, you naughty, bad boy! In honor of that, I'm going to read at least 10 books with covers featuring beautiful (naked) chests - or backs, because I'm not picky. All male, of course.

Danielle's WLLK All Things Summer 2011 Challenge
Duration: June 21-September 22
Goal: Read twenty books that are related in some way to the summer theme, including titles or covers that relate to summer. This includes the use of terms such as Summer, hot, heat, sizzle, fire, etc. Also including stories set during the summer months or during hot weather.

I'm not sure what I'll do yet, but I'm in. I hate summer, so I'll have to come up with something to help me get through it. :)

Nissie, I am starting to get where I dislike summer as well. I hate the heat! I am wishing I lived someone cloudy and cool, like Scotland!

Danielle, Scotland sounds lovely! The heat and the humidity combined does me in. Not to mention all the nasty creepy crawlies and flying pests that come out in droves.

I'm too lazy to decide what to read. I did really well with the Spring Cleaning challenge - so far I've read 33 books that are part of a series I'd started but need to catch up on. 9 days left and 2 more books. I'm going to finish up with and . THEN I'll start thinking about Summer! LOL

That's pretty awesome, D! I'm hoping I can get the remaining three books read before the Spring challenge ends!

Nissie, I don't like the creepy crawly bugs much either. Here in Texas, it's so hot that I am turning into a nocturnal creature. I just stay indoors for most of the day, if I can.

You rocked the spring cleaning challenge, Dhes! I loved it, too. I got a lot of books cleaned up. A lot for me, anyway.
I'm seriously considering reading Christmas-themed books for the summer. Haven't decided for sure yet.

Danielle, being nocturnal helps a lot. I've always been that way. It's much easier now that we have 24hr stores. Although Walmart at 2am can be a little scary. :P

hmmm Well, During the Summer, the heat makes many fires start. so in honor of the summer's flaming heat, i shall read 10 romance books with firefighters :) is that acceptable?

Well, yeah, especially if you keep posting pictures of almost nekkid firefighters!! I just read the last two Firefighters of Station Five books by Jo Davis. All I can say is those men can come over and light my fire, or put it out, any day!

Robin, that's horrible! I can't imagine having to be out all day in the heat. Basically the only time I'll go out during the day is for an unavoidable errand. Everything else waits until sundown.

Nissie, same here! If I have to go out, I make it quick!

Yes, Danielle! I've learned to move very quickly in the summer. Some things can't wait until night (the bank, doctor or dentist appt), but I do it FAST! No lolly gagging. Get in, get out, and get home lol.
