Sapphire was sitting down in a crowded subway tunnel. She looked around, bored, as she drank juice from the apple juice box in her hand. a small, tattered backpack sat comfortably next to her on the worn down, graffiti-ed metal bench. it was pushed up against a dirtied tiled wall, which was also decorated with artistic curves of graffiti.
Sapphire's mind, however, was not focused on the designs on the wall or the cold bench. instead, she was watching the people. She was very confused. Their lives seemed so...droll, so average! How they could go through a day thinking what they were doing was 'living' amazed her. they took no risks, jumped nofences, climbed no walls, and never said what they really meant. Everything in their lives seemed so simple and embarrassingly easy. Sapphire fiddled with the thin, small straw between her teeth for a moment, still deep in thought.

Devi saw a gril who looked so framiliar, but she didn't know why. They certainly weren't friends. Devi kept walking past the metal bench the other girl was sitting on, taking care to avoid waking too close.
Still, she couldn't help glancing at the girl one more time as she walked through the subway tunnel.
Sapphire finished her juice and tossed the carton into a near by garbage can. It struck the side and bounced in, miraculously.
"Nice shootin' ace!" she congratulated herself. Just then, a girl passed, glancing at Sapphire. The girl quickly looked away again, but the face stuck with Sapphire.
Sap gasped and jumped to her feet.
"Devi?! Is that you, girl?"
(Er, ok, how should they know each other?)

((hmmmm. I have no clue. I was thinking maybe Sapphire stole from her? But that's just an idea))Devi stopped and turned to face the girl.
"Hello" She said softly then louder, "How've you been?" Devi pretended to recognize her
Devi crosses her arms, with a forced smile on her face
((ah-ha. that is a fantastic idea!))
Sapphire smiled widely and was abou to answer when a flash back memory erupted into her mind. Devi--that had been the girl who she had brought along on a gig and then ditched at the last moment! Had teh cops caught her, or had she gotten away...? Sap had never really given the girl another thought.
"Oh, I've been fine, just fine! how about you?"

Devi gave a half shrug, annoyed that the girl wasn't giving her a lot of information to bluff with."You know me," She replied with a laugh, "I'm solid, just like always."
Devi used the word solid a lot instead of cool or awesome because she thought those other adjatives were overused.
"I've been in town for a while." Sapphire sighed. "It's fun for the first bit, but after a while, everything get's old. Not many people say that when they're in New York City, but I'm hard to please."
"A few jobs here, a couple gigs there. Nothing out of the ordinary. What about you?" Sap nudged her and winked. "pulled off any big ones recently?"
Devi laughed, unsure how to respond, "Come on! Like you don't already know." She hoped that answer was allright.
"Hmm, Chris is a good name for today.." the theif, who for a while, will be called Chris, thought to himself, "Now that thats out of the way, time for a little pickpocketing." Chris said to himself, stepping off of the subway, assesing the easy targets and the harder targets.
"Lil' of this. Bit O' that. just some normal stuff." Sapphire gave Devi a big wink. She then glanced up at the clock and tutted. "Opps, looks like I'd better hop on. But, it was nice talking to you!" She grinnned and sauntered towards the tunnel where several others were waiting impatinently for the subway train to stop by.
(I've never been on one, so forgive my ignorance.))
(I've never been on one, so forgive my ignorance.))
Chris saw someone walking towards a big group of people. He walked a little faster to intercept, and "accidentally" ran into her, to cause a distraction so he could pickpocket her.
Sapphire caught the strangers wrist before it could dive int her bag and touch something valuable.
"Hey!" Sapphire growled. "What's the big idea??"
"Hey!" Sapphire growled. "What's the big idea??"
Chris started chuckling. "It's been a long time since anyone has caught me pickpocketing. Whats your name, and im guessing that your a theif? Because they are the only ones who have caught me, and only the best at that." He explained.
Sapphire dropped the man's wrist, slightly flattered and embarrassed that she was letting herself be pleased by the man's charming words.
"Sapphire. Me, a thief?" Sapphire smiled and raised her hand to show she was holding her index finger and thumb about an inch apart. "just a lil'. What about you? What's your name?"
"Sapphire. Me, a thief?" Sapphire smiled and raised her hand to show she was holding her index finger and thumb about an inch apart. "just a lil'. What about you? What's your name?"
"Now i wouldn't be trying to pickpocket you if i wasn't a theif now would I?" Chris asked mockingly. "My name is Chris, for now. I've forgotten my real name."
Sapphire gave a sarcastic smirk and then looked at him thoughtfully.
"You don't know your real name? Does that mean you don't remember your past? Or are you one of the lucky ones without a past?"
"You don't know your real name? Does that mean you don't remember your past? Or are you one of the lucky ones without a past?"
Chris chuckled. "No, i remember my past, i just dont remember my name. Whenever i remember someone saying it, its always a different name for a different person."
"Well, I believe that makes you one of the more interesting people I've met today." Sapphire said. "It must be nice to be able to just....change your name."
"It was at first, but now i cant find my family. It gets lonely." Chris said shaking his head.
"All part of the thieving business," Sapphire said, "But I, unlike you, would rather not have my family meet up with me."
"They cant be that bad." Chris said. "Now, anyways, you going anywhere? Any thieving jobs you need help in?"
Sapphire, had actually, just recieved a job. A very good job. A very nice paying one. Unfortunetly, it was nothign she could do all by herself. She sized Chris up in that moment she had before reply and then decided that even if he wasn't going to be trustworthy, she might be able to get out alive. The pay never mattered. The job never mattered. First it was for thrills and then, if caught, it was for survival.
"Yeah, actually, I have a job that I need...a little help with. How do you like Europe?"
"Yeah, actually, I have a job that I need...a little help with. How do you like Europe?"
Chris smiled. "Je l'aime" Chris stated as he wondered what the job would be. "So, do you have any money for tickets? Or will we have to do this the old fashioned way, with fake passports and stolen tickets?"
"It's the second option or sprouting wings." Sapphire said with a shrug. "I just got the job an hour ago. But I know a guy who can help us out with the passports..." she added with a mysterious wink.
"Hmm, tell him i want to be Jason Christopher Hoffmann for my past port please." Chris said after a little thought. "And we might not have to steal some plane tickets, an old friend owes me a favor. Is first class good enough for you? Or would you like your own private plane?"
"I suppose first class will have to do," she said with an overexaggerated sigh.
this was gonna be fun.
"Next, we need to think about our identities-- we'll need to scout the place and it would be nice if we had a story to go with our names?"

"Hmmm, shall we be buisness partners, husband and wife, honeymooners, or art dealers?" Chris asked, because everyone knew you needed a different past for different "professions".
"Art dealers is awful tempting, but that would make us the first targets and it would be hard getting back out of the country... Everyone goes to Europe on their honeymoon though, so we would blend in quiet nicely." Sapphire said thoughtfully.
"Honeymooners it is then" Chris agreed "I think I'm gonna be a Professor" He decided after a little while "I'll be a English professor, or should i be some other type?"
"English is fine. Nobody really knows whats going on in that profession anyway," Sapphire said with a wave of her hand. "but if you're going to be a teacher, then I'll have to play the teachers sweet little wife." Sapphire made a face, but was pleased with the idea. they would be completely under the radar.
"What will you be? Kindergarten teacher? Editor? Another Professor? Its up to you to decide." Chris said. "And just wondering, who is the passport person? I might need his services later on."
"Kindergarten teacher will probably work with teh character I have in mind." Sapphire said, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "My contact is very parinoid. He has a name, he just doesn't use it. Calls himself Deek. Hard to find, easy to annoy."
"Deek? Is he a computer geek?" Chris asked making a very bad joke.
Sapphire raised her eyebrows and smiled.
"Charming and cheesy," she said. "I think we're going to get along very well."
"Charming and cheesy," she said. "I think we're going to get along very well."
"Hey that wasnt cheesy" Chris objected until he saw her stare "Okay, maybe it was, but i dont have anything i can joke about right now."
"Well, that's a good thing. a jokeless English professor and his new sweet, naiive kindergartener teacher-- it's the ultimate cover. The last time I did something as interesting as that was when I had to dress up in a highschool's mascot!"
Chris stared at her "Do i want to know?" He asked looking slightly scared.
"It's an interesting story, to be sure, but one I'd rather not share with practical strangers. Look, you go find your old friend and I'll go chat it up with Deek. Say we meet in the airport in an hour?" she asked, raising her eyebrows and folding her arms.
"2 and a half, i need 45 minutes to drive over to the next city, and then 45 back. Where exactly are we going, so he can buy the right plane tickets." Chris explained
"Paris France. I'll see youo in two hours then!" Sapphire said brightly.
((shall we just skip to the part where they meet up at the airport?))
((shall we just skip to the part where they meet up at the airport?))
((we shall, i dont feel like talking to my associate))
Chris sat at the airport entrance waiting for Sapphire, knowing she couldn't get in with out the ticket he held in his hand. "Maybe i should get a new name, or at least become used to the name on my passport"

Sapphire burst into the airport and looked around desperately. She saw Chris and rushed over.
"Time to go, now," she huffed, shoving his passport into his hand and puling him out of his chair before leading him through the airport to the gateway. She kept checking over her shoulders and ducking occasionally.
