Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments I love the way Julie Garwood writes about her Highland Warriors, I especially liked The Secret..Ransom..The Bride.. I could go on and on. I would love to hear about another author who can write about this genre with as much talent as Ms Garwood.. please let me know if you are aware of any. ;)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I can't think of any that compare to Ms Garwood but some highlander authors I've liked are Monica McCarty, Arnette Lamb, Karen Marie Moning, Hannah Howell. Both Johanna Lindsey and Jude Deveraux wrote a couple highlander/scotland novels too.

Garwood's the only one I've come across who can write a good Highlander romance. I've tried McCarty, Moning, Howell, Lindsey, Deveraux, London, Harrington and the list goes on with less popular authors and they've always disappointed compared to Garwood :( Hope there are some new ones out there that people can recommend too :)

I didn't know it was her book :) I just looked it up and it's TT which I don't really like :( I like straight up Highlanders usually but..... ;)

message 8: by Nissie Lambert (new)

Nissie Lambert | 9 comments I like time travel.(most of the time) And I love highlanders. So this was a really great one for me. She did a good with the TT. If you decide to give it a try, let me know what you think. :)
She's working on the second in the series now.

Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments hahaha we're all fans together! :) just wish there were more to read!! my daughter and I have them all in book form..unfortunately we seem to have misplaced Honours Splendour (unless its loaned out and we haven't gotten it back), I could really do with them backed up on my laptop!!

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Honours Splendour is my FAVORITE book of hers. I wrote to her recently and asked her to write more historical books..... she said she had no plans. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

message 18: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments oh I'm gutted!

message 19: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments I really thought she would have written about the brothers in Honours Splendour..how sad that she didn't, I loved them too!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too! She seems to like writing contemporary books now ...... I don't know why. She is so gifted with the historic! Really there aren't a lot of stories like hers. They are different from most. I wish I could find another author like her.

message 21: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments Yes that would be great, but I've tried many and still haven't matched her books,I love the way she mixes all the emotions together with these strong warriors and their ladies, especially the "humour"...there have been some great remarks from the characters!!

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Do you like her contemporary books? If so which ones would you recommend? I read HeartBreaker...... For some stupid reason contemporary murder isn't the same as historic murder to me....... I got problems.....
I think her historic books are more light hearted..??... maybe?

message 23: by Pamela(AllHoney) (new)

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Faithmarie, I like her contemporaries but they don't compare to her historicals. I think if you can separate that it was the same person writing the two then you would enjoy the contemps more. I've read just about all of them except the newest one and went back and reread them later and found I liked them more the 2nd time around. Yes, I think the historicals have a lighter feel to them.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Pamela, that is what I will have to do. It is like her contemporaries and historicals are written by two different people. If you reread them then they must be worth my reading them all..... and I do like her as an author. I do love reading light hearted books.

message 25: by Elayne (new)

Elayne (elaynet) | 27 comments I did like her contemporary books..they're the Buchannans..Brodicks descendants ;P

*Erin* | 6 comments Here is a link to a Highlander Romance group. I think its very useful since it is probably my favorite genre. I just can't help it. Those alphas get me all flustered ;)
