Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Ah ya beat me to it. I got that in my email today and was going to post it for everyone. So I'm just about to read it. Do you know if it is true or not that Tory has the baby in this book? I think another member around here said she was supposed to. But I hadn't heard or read anything about that. And 6 months have to have passed for her to be due so soon.

Angela Over at PremiereCollectibles.com they have autographed copies for sale for $30.00.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) | 359 comments Dhfan, on FB Sherrilyn posted news and I think there she said the baby will be born in Retribution.

message 5: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Damn then 6 months definitely have gone by. She was just 3 months in No Mercy.

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments I love the babies...and what they bring to the table with their powers and such...

message 7: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I might have missed it, but does any other kid have active powers besides Marissa? Ash's kid will definitely have them. That goes without saying for sure. I just wonder if he or she will be blue like he is. That would be so awesome

Steph (lovessf) I can't wait to find out. I'm excited just at the thought if the re-read lol. Let alone a new installment.

message 9: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Ya know in general I'm pretty glad she has it set to come out early on in August. As I have been reading/visiting other series and books lately and some have been good, bad, and very indifferent. So it's like a homecoming of sorts. And I can't wait. :D

Steph (lovessf) My thoughts exactly! I am a little rusty on the details so I can't wait to get back to this world. I really do miss them :( August cannot come quick enough, and it's my birthday on the 14th, so it can be my birthday present to myself, like No Mercy was last year lol

message 11: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Excellent Steph. The next dream-hunter book will be my bday gift to myself as that comes out in Nov. And mine is on the 29th. But likely will have it read by then anyway lol.

Steph (lovessf) Great, abook in August and November! My very severe reading habbit only started about 2 or 3 years ago. In December I said that I think this will be the best year of reading I've had. So far it has been, there are so many fantastic releases this year. And this info has just made it even better lol

message 13: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments No doubt. :)

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) | 359 comments On FB a character named Renegade was mentioned who'll show up in Retribution and be the hero of the next DH book. Sounds like we've never met him before or maybe I just forgot. Does the name sound familiar?

Steph (lovessf) Don't think I have heard it before.
I'd kind of hoped to see the next book about a more familiar character. But I guess we will get to know this character in Retribution, he might be a brilliant new addition the the series. But I guess we'll find out soon lol

I think Zarek's son Bob does. Vane & Bride have a son (Bob's friend) but I don't think he has powers.

Nothing was mentioned of Kat being able to turn blue like her father (Acheron) does. It may not be something that is passed on from generation to generation. His kid will be interesting, & I'm so looking forward to Simi and her interactions with the kid. They should be pretty funny.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Renegade was mentioned a long time ago on SK's old web site. And says here in the DH Companion book that he is a Anasazai warrior or shaman(only his hair dresser knows for sure) and is an ancestor of Shadow, a Zuni warrior. Born A.D. 961 birthplace unknown, Height 6'7 hair and eyes are black and powers are telekinesis and atmokinesis(can manipulate changes in the weather or think Storm from X-men), and current location is El Paso, Texas.

I know it wasn't mentioned for Kat to be able to turn blue. As I figure she takes after the more humanesque side of the gene pool. But that is not to say that could be the case for Ash's second child.

And Trace he is magical within himself I believe. As I believe Vane's Arcadian genes will trump the human ones from Bride and there by make Trace an Arcadian as well. But as he is young yet, or likely not as powerful as his dad his powers hasn't kicked in yet. Or rather I don't think they will til he hits puberty and goes through the change for the first time.

I agree. There are already so many (interesting) characters, no need for new ones. But let's wait and see. ;-)

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Not to sound like a know it all ladies. But the DH world as is the other two worlds is a very vast place. And I can understand folks wanting to stick with familiar characters. But I think that would stagnate the world SK is creating. As she loves creating another piece of the puzzle from different view points and eyes of each different dark-hunter, were-hunter and dream-hunter. Some may not be the most interesting to some of us. But it is still genuinely pretty cool that she brings new stuff to us from a different personal perspective. And not just all Greek and Roman this. But we got celtic views from Talon, Viking stuff from Wulf, and so on and so forth. I would hate for that to discontinue.

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments Well put Dhfan4life...

I like the different perspectives and backgrounds (Roman, Greek, Viking, Chinese etc.) too and I'm sure SK has her reasons but still... There are already so many characters that I personally don't feel the need to add even more.

Steph (lovessf) I like that she adds new characters, but I think someone we have already heard of should be the main foucus of the book. I have liked pretty much all the new side line characters but would prefer to get to know more about a person we are familiar with. To see some of the old faces I loved reading about!
Hope that makes sense lol

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 248 comments All I want is for the series to continue however SK sees fit.

message 25: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I'm not sure how familiar you guys are with SK's old site. But Renegade and quite a few of the other characters have all been mentioned eons ago. She is just finally bringing them into the light. And as they are all kind of like their own special ops secret fighters for the side of good that are spread all over the world I doubt she could keep with the same ones time and again as those guys have retired.

And Steph we already sort of get that already. I mean there are 4 arc's pretty much covering some of the top players of each arc. Meaning that we were already getting snippets of Ash's life through the dark-hunter books before his came out. And through him we are getting snippets of Savitar's part of the story and I'm sure we will get more through the were-hunters for him til we hit his book. But I doubt SK will just pick one known character and just stick with them. Wouldn't work for her 4 arc set up.

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh nice. I seen something about this from St. Martin's. Unfortunately I have to put my money towards other efforts at the moment. :( But one day I will totally get one of these opportunities.

message 28: by Denise (new) - added it

Denise (justplainme) Just got this in an email from Sherri's DHOMC -

Sherri will be sending out the birth announcement for Acheron's baby one
week on Aug 9, after the release of Retribution (out Aug 2). In that
book, you will see Sasha as a major secondary character and you will
see the entire birth of Ash's baby. You will be there when it's brought
into the world. Sherri wouldn't dare leave that out. Zarek and Talon
are both in the book, along with other favorites.

Jayne | 38 comments This is good to hear. What Kind of father do you think Acheron will be?

message 30: by Steph (last edited Jul 19, 2011 02:40PM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Steph (lovessf) GREAT news. I am so happy for Ash, he is the perfect man to be father! I really can't wait to read this book!

message 31: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Whoa, I don't want to get too deep with the pregnancy. I've seen the business of being born and that was real people heaving and straining, lol. Can just imagine that in a book. So I pray for Godly intervention of some sort to help Tory through that a bit more quickly.

And I think Ash would be a great dad. Firm when he needs to be. But always loving and protective. No doubt encouraging in the right ways too. After all we see how Simi has turned out. And she wasn't even directly from his loins. And acted out at least just the once under his care. So I think he will do a truly great job. I can already see the baby now in some goth gear with him and Simi out at Dragoncon, lol.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) | 359 comments There are already a few reviews for Retribution. Check out the book's goodreads page.

message 34: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments I bet. But I'm still going to wait til I read it for myself first.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) | 359 comments I can't help it! I love spoilers! LOL

message 36: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good review and spoiler as well at times. Just I wound up reading a review from one of my friends on here on Lover Unleashed before I bought that book. And although I agreed with her comments. When I finally read the book it just felt like I wasn't reading the story for the first time cause I already knew what was going to happen. So my reactions and opinions didn't feel as genuine to me and like I was just harping as part of the peanut gallery, ya know?

AlbertaJenn The trailer is up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_5-t6...

Makes me excited for tomorrow!

message 38: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Yep, I saw that AJ. I'm excited for tomorrow as well but have to wait. As it takes Wal-mart and other stores like that near me to actually get the book in. >_< Hence I totally hate not having a bookstore in the area anymore as the supermarket seems to get the book like several days after the actual release date and I have to wait. Grrrr.

message 39: by Denise (new) - added it

Denise (justplainme) Oh dear, I hope I don't get tarred and feathered for saying this but...... I am going to check it out of the library to read before I decide to purchase. I can't afford to put out $20 bucks on a book if it isn't any better than Bad Moon Rising or No Mercy were.

Zaanodes | 21 comments Denise wrote: "Oh dear, I hope I don't get tarred and feathered for saying this but..."

I will be tarred and feathered right along with you!

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments No you ladies won't. I say you know your wallets far better than we do. So choose to buy it or not. That is entirely up to you. I personally just love owning my favorite author's work. Even if I don't fully enjoy the story *cough* wren's, ravyn's *cough*, I still find that I want to own it for myself. And besides I don't think I could wait to read it after #250 in the request line at the library, lol. I'm sorry. For most other authors I'm new to, I can. But for Kenyon there is no way in the heck.

Denise (justplainme) Dhfan4life wrote: "I don't think I could wait to read it after #250 in the request line at the library "

Hopefully I won't have to wait that long, I put my name on the list as soon as the title was announced.

If I like it, I will probably wait and buy it in paperback. My money and space limitations dictate that. :-/ All the others I have are pb. I WILL be preordering Guardian though, Jaden & Jared you know...... ;-)

Zaanodes | 21 comments No spoilers please...but

Is Jess or Abigail pierced?

message 44: by Tara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tara | 142 comments I always read the hardcovers from the library. I had all the books in paperback prior to them starting to release then in hardcover and I just don't want to buy the book twice. Luckily the list wasn't too long when I put my name on it, and I'm going to see if I can put my name on the ebook list too, and I have access to 3 library systems so I'll see who gets it first!

Emily | 9 comments I have to say I am a little disappointed in the chemistry...I am still loving the story though...

message 46: by Dhfan4life, Honey Bun (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments See doing what works best for ya Denise. That's what I like to hear. About the last time I read a book from a series I liked from the library was the BDB books and the time before that was Laurell K. Hamilton. And even then I had a bit of a extended wait. And frankly the only time I've bought a book twice was when my first copy of Dream-hunter, the back cover got ripped. And I was just replacing it. Beyond that I don't really feel the need to replace hardback copies with paper backs. I have considered it before but then figured that would be silly if I already have it. No need to waste extra money.

Um other than regular ear rings for Abigail. I don't think she nor Jess is pierced in another way Zaanodes. Heck to even have a ear pierced I think Jess would think that is weird as he is one of those truly old school Billy the Kid type cowboys. So don't think he would be a fan of piercings on himself.

Zaanodes | 21 comments Dhfan4life wrote: "Um other than regular ear rings for Abigail. I don't think she nor Jess is pierced in another way Zaanodes...."

Thank you, DHfan4life!

I'm with you on that! Sherri is the only author that I auto-buy in hc like this. All others I borrow if I can (I get to borrow books from the bookstore I work at, a nice perk).

Dhfan4life | 10411 comments Sweet deal AJ. Where ya work? I might need to find it and get me a job there, lol. So many good ones out there but it's always buy right off or borrow from the library for me. That is if they ever heard of it.

I work for Chapters Canada. Of course, if the book doesn't come back in sellable condition, we have to buy it. But it is a great way to get staff to know the stock better.
