I'm hoping she uses this series to somehow 'fix' future/present Nick in the adult part of the series because his attitude in the Dark Hunter series is getting a little old. Anyone got any theories on how she could accomplish this? It's hard to believe that Sherrilyn won't tie these books together in future Dark Hunter books especially since what is going on in the Chronicles of Nick is changing things that Nick remembers in the DH series.

I think something happens at the end of this series that changes things so that things that happen in Night Pleasures onward happen as they do.Don't forget Ash's favourite saying: just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I think the lesson that Nick has to learn is that you can't change fate.
I'm not sure how she would, but I'm definitely curious. I'm also surprised more of the Dark Hunters haven't been mentioned in the Nick books. I find them fascinating, learning about his background. I have wondered, though, how these books will fit in the Dark Hunter series.
It could also be an alternate timeline. Since future nick went back in time to change things, theoretically, the timeline could have split giving us 2 different distinct timelines, with the first one still continuing the way they are in the dark-hunter books and a second one changing because of the events of the CoN books. Hey, its an idea :P
I have enjoyed these books. Hate the next won't be out til March. Nick's sarcasm makes me laugh every time. Hoping that with the "changes" he is making, he will learn to resist the evil just like Ash has. I wonder if his want to sever the "tie" between his life & Ash's is so he can kill Ash without dying or can die himself without taking Ash with him? I guess we shall see...
I am really enjoying the Chronicles of Nick books they give us a small glimpse to what has happened in the future. We know Ash is not around but we also know Savitar and Artemis are around. We also read that the future Ambrose is centuries in the future so it is way past the DH books. I just want to know what happens. We know fate is important in all the books but our actions might change the outcome but the actual fate is still suppose to happen. I am so interested to know what will happen.

Chronicles of Nick are wonderful and when they give you a glimpse into the future it just makes you anxious to know what is going on.
Guess I'll have to go back and re-read Invincible...I didn't realize that "Ash is not around". I know that last seen, Ash and Tory were having their first child and maybe that's got something to do with his temporary scarcity but I think I'll just go back and have a second read (always fun).
Pauline remember its a flash into the future. I believe they are talking about thousands of years and something happened and its not that he is busy but *****spoiler ***** he is not available period like something bad happened to him.
Huh, Adoore, now I will definitely have to go back and re-read. Hadn't forgotten about the time thing but must have missed that part. Always a good read though so I don't mind. Thanks for pointing out where I especially need to pay attention.
I understood that it was a different timeline. Because Ambrose is changing things, which will veer the timeline off in a whole new direction. Nick is learning things he never knew when Ambrose was that age. I did catch that Ash 'wasn't around' anymore, though Artemis was. Seems like there's something brewing there. And from the spoiler scene in Retribution it's possible Nick might be good for Artemis. Romance? I'm open to it, so long as she doesn't screw it up!!
I heard someone say that since Ash 'wasn't around anymore' that meant Nick was more powerful than him, but I don't agree with that.
I just finished reading all the DH books, and started CofN books. I read somewheres that Nick's DH book will not come out until CofN books comes to the right timeline. I wonder how teens who havent read the DH series will get the back stories.
I hadn't heard that, very interesting! Eventhough I'm an adult I did not hesitate to read the CON books because I love how Sherrilyn Kenyon writes and I would hope that teens who like Nick's books would gravitate towards her DH series as well.
Actually I picked up Infinity 2 years ago for my Godson, but held off giving it to him until I read it first (since he was only 10). When I found out it was based on a character from her DH series...I decided to read that series first...and boy am I glad...I started the series in Jan, (waiting for some of the earlier books at the library) but the later books I couldnt put down so quickly finished the DH series....I started CofN last weekend, and am now on the latest book....my only problem now is not having anymore to read (for a couple of months anyway)!
What I understood about Ash not being around it seemed he tried to change the past and was punished for it. That's why Savitar warns Nick about messing with the past but for some reason Nick feels nothing will happen to him.
I didn't need to read the DH books to get the back story for the character, I did anyway, but it wasn't exactly necessary. CON is Nicks true past and the DH series is set 8 or so years after CON. So it's safe to say its going to work out well (hopefully). I don't think the author would purposefully go back and put Nick through hell just so his DH book would be good, it's probably going to be when Nick (Ambrose) is fighting for good and the final battle will probably be with Stryker and Apollymi, somehow I think it's what's going to happen, not what I actually want to happen.
I definately caught the 'Ash isn't around anymore' from Savitar and am hoping that just means that Ash has given up on Nick and not that he is dead. We know that Nick will one day be strong enough to kill Ash, he says it himself. Now if Ash is dead thousands of years into the future that would mean that Apollymi is either dead and/or has destroyed the world. I can't reconcile Nick ever being stronger than Ash or Apollymi, considering the whole greek pantheon was afraid of her. Every hero in this series has a tragic back story and the problem I have with Nick and why I want him to be 'fixed' is because almost everyone elses story is worse than his. These characters have generally accepted and moved on while he turns his back on everyone and has become insufferable. I want a Nick I can tolerate in the DH books.
I dont always catch the nuances or hints writers put in their stories. Often I think they are going one way then find out I am wrong (Mockingjay being an example of how wrong I can be)...but I wondered whether the world was destroyed (by killing Ash, or letting Appolymi out)except for Savitar's island and that is one of the reasons why Ambrose was going back in time -- but have to wonder how much of the orig Nick story is valid -- he now has met Simi, and realizes she isnt just a girl...so hooking up with her and becoming part of Ash's curse shouldnt come true; although it seems that Cherise is destined to die no matter. I agree in some ways he has less to gripe about then others, but there is still goodness in him in DH; changes in Artemis/taking over Ash's role (I have an axe to grind about Artie over that!), giving sanctuary to Dev and Sam, and Seth and Lydia. I dont mind his attitude so much as the fact as I said earlier Artemis has her claws into him.
I am eagerly waiting for the next Chronicle and DH books...as I managed to read all of them in 3 months....
I know it will took years for the CoN and the DH to coincide up to the 24th year of Nick...and since future Nick"ambrose" broke the rules of the fates going back to his past..made alot different after all..since CoN Nick is the last Nick to hold the future..hmmm well as long as he won't end up with kody..I don't know why I wrote that:)
Lisa wrote: "I understood that it was a different timeline. Because Ambrose is changing things, which will veer the timeline off in a whole new direction. Nick is learning things he never knew when Ambrose was ..."I thought I was the only one who thought that. I remember one of Ash's favorite sayings- Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I don't know...I know that Nick has some scary great powers but Ash is no slowpoke either. Plus, if Ash was 'not around anymore' wouldn't Appolymi be set free and kill Artemis and Apollo? And I'm being very biased here, my favorite character in this whole series is Ash, I don't want him dead or anyone else more powerful than him, not even Nick and I absolutely love Nick.
