TV Show vs Books

the book series, yes, Elena is a bit vain and self-centred ect...actually Elena, Meredith, Bonnie and Caroline were the popular girls in the school if i remember correctly.
The books have their own story and the show has its own...the characters have the same name but the personalities are very different. So, for this reason, I don't really associate either of them series together. I look at them as separate entities.
The television show is loosely based from the book (as we haven't noticed LOL).
The show is made to appeal to everyone (not only teens but to older adults as well)I believe as you were saying about the mature audience, correct?.
anyhow...so I can neither disagree or agree i'm inbetween if that makes sense?

When I first read the books I really liked them, but I feel like the books are a lot more supernatural, which don't get me wrong I love supernatural, but I feel like the TV show does a great job balancing reality & supernatural. I really like the direction that the TV show is going.

Right now, I'm planning on buying all the novels to VD and SC, and then I'll ready. Maybe that's what I need to do.
I feel like the TV show plays to a more mature audience. As a person in their early 20s I find the show much more entertaining and engaging than the books, now that I'm re-reading the books.
Anyone else have any other comments? Agree or disagree?
