So hi! It's kind of difficult to figure out what books you all are in the mood for since I haven't been to the last couple of in person meetups. So give me some hints, suggestions, etc.! I need to know what books to include on the poll for July's book selection. It's difficult to narrow down all these choices without feedback so lemme know.

I bought Bill McKibben's The End of Nature b/c it was 95% off. Just thought I'd mention that since you have one of his books on your list. I haven't read anything of his yet.

It probably wouldn't be a bad time to read a health-related book. I just watched Forks Over Knives yesterday and I think it's ruined the joy of gluttony for me. :/ The Food Revolution: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and Our World is good for that because (from what I remember) it brings in other subjects, world poverty, GMOs, etc. Though it isn't exactly light summer reading.

Does anyone have any interested in reading ethical/philosophical writings? I haven't read any Peter Singer's writing yet. I bought both Animal Liberation and The Life You Can Save: Acting Now to End World Poverty. I'll probably be reading some more of Tom Regan's work some time soon if anyone wants to get in on a side discussion that probably won't appeal to most people.

I still really want to read Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide because I started the first forty pages and the information was all very new to me. Very depressing though, just to warn everyone, but that's reality. I think there's an empowering message in there, too, beyond that first 40 pages.

Oh, and also, I checked out The Bond: Our Kinship with Animals, Our Call to Defend Them from the library. I haven't so much as read the inside cover of it, but I noticed the author did a signing in FL recently and thought perhaps there might be a few people who subsequently bought it and haven't read it yet.

I think I'm gonna leave setting the voting up to Sophia this time. :D I'm just not as in touch and besides, she's had a good vacation... time to get back to work! :P

Thanks for all of the book suggestions! I like to limit the poll to 5-6, but keep suggesting books in upcoming months if you really want us to read it! See the new poll to vote by Saturday, June 26th when the most votes will decide which book we read next!
