Chris | 32 comments This is really contemporary Russian literature as opposed to a lot of the more classical stuff mentioned on here but I was introduced to it in a Russian Fairy Tales class and it was well worth it. There is a saga of Nightwatch books written by Sergei Lukyanenko and the first one has a movie adaptation as well. I've read the first three of the four books and they are excellently written with a great storyline. The best I can categorize them would to be epic Russian sci-fi. They have both an element of sci-fi and fantasy to them and a decent working in of Russian folklore. I definitely recommend them and was wondering if anyone else has read or heard of them.

Chris link us to a site where we can get more info and no, I have not heard of it but sounds interesting! I rarely read sci-fi but I love fantasy.

I've been told that Netflix is one place that carries the movie. It's hard to find otherwise without custom ordering it. I go to a large university so they happen to have a copy of it. These are just links to the first book and movie. I don't think they will make movies of the sequels but there are four books total right now. I think the second and third books were better than the first even, but you obviously have to start somewhere.

I do try horror movies but I can't enjoy it because I think I'm tooo scared but I'm might try a novel. The scenes of birds in the trailer reminds, Hithcock's "The Birds."

Chris | 32 comments The movie was really out there. The book was much easier to follow.
