Danie Pie | 1 comments I'm reading 'I've got your number' I wonder if there's any site where we can download iBooks. Besides from the app store?

message 5: by Katerina (new)

Katerina I am currently reading Perelandra by C. S. Lewis.

I have been able to load books purchased from Barnes & Noble into iBooks by downloading them to my PC. I haven't tried it lately, though. It is easier to simply load them into the Nook app.

Beeg Panda (beegpanda) | 6 comments Rick, can you tell me how to side load to my ipad3 please? I've found directions on an iPad forum and I can follow it up to a point. After that the options given on my iTunes don't correspond with the options on the forum directions.

I'd appreciate it if you have a moment to advise, ta

C.P. Lesley (cplesley) I'm reading Bryn Hammond's Of Battles Past and Jack Weatherford's The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire. One is fiction, the other history, but they share a theme.

Harrison Davies (harrisondavies) | 11 comments BeegPanda, there are a couple of ways to side load to iBooks.

My preferred method is to email the book to yourself and then open with iBooks from the email app.

Usually, if you have an ePub file, all you have to do to sideload it via iTunes is to drag it onto the iTunes icon. It is loaded into Books (under Library), and next time you sync your iPad, iTunes copies the book into the iBooks application. That's all there is to it.

E-mailing the file also works. Just press the icon for the book and hold it until your iPad's Mail application says Open in. iBooks will be the first choice. Drag to it and let go.

Katerina I just finished Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. 1970's Russian science fiction. Interesting book.

Anna Neckar | 1 comments I don't get a lot of time to spend with my daughter's on Christmas as I have to travel during the holiday season, so I purchased this great little book for the fact that it combines a bunch of Forever Friends elements into one solid package. They're going to love it.

Aggie | 2 comments I recently read TABOO - by Casey Hill, it was free so I decided to give it a try. I loved it. It's a crime investigation type of book if anyone is interested.

Currently, I'm reading Mary Campisi - Family Affair: Summer. It's the third book in series Truth in Lies. First one is also available for free in iBooks and I really enjoyed it. It's an easy-read, with the theme of discovering past secrets and love.

Ebonyaugust | 2 comments Just finishing "Red Rising" by Pierce Brown. A wonderful "YA" (I'm in my 30s and found it not at all simplistic or focused on any particular "YA" themes.)
Dystopian, fantasy/sci-fi........I couldn't stop reading this at every chance I could.
The battery on my iPad went flat a couple of times mid-sentence.......
Frustratingly, this is the first book in a new series, with no sequel in sight just yet, so I now desperately seek something just as compelling to read.

Secret Realm Reviews&Services (secertrealmbookmania) | 2 comments I am waiting in anticipation for Kathryn Le Veques book called The Thunder Lord. You can preorder it for 99 cents. So since I am having to wait on that. I am listening to an audiobook by Danelle Harmon called Captain of my Heart. I love IBOOKS and audiobooks. What do you guys think about them?

message 21: by Ebonyaugust (new)

Ebonyaugust | 2 comments I love the feel of a real book, and new books smell divine. You can also read a real book, and not have batteries suddenly go flat whilst you are totally engrossed in a sentence, paragraph or chapter.
However iBooks and ePubs have totally enabled me to read exponentially more than I have in past years, and that can really only be a good thing (financially, it's also much easier to accrue a small library!).

Secret Realm Reviews&Services (secertrealmbookmania) | 2 comments I am awaiting Kathryn Le Veques newest release called Scorpion! I know its going to be great. It is available for preorder but I have not started reading it yet. But it will be releasing soon! I love her books.

Johnny Walker (Ekko_Johnny) | 2 comments I'm wondering if any of you look at the file size before downloading, and would that prevent you from downloading an iBook?

message 24: by Jerry (new)

Jerry (capvideo) | 1 comments I look at file sizes when I’m downloading off of Gutenberg, because you they’re right there. I don’t recall looking when downloading off of the iBooks store (which I rarely buy from anyway) but I probably should. They’re much bigger than Gutenberg epubs.

Since I don’t generally leave books on the iPad after reading them, the file size would have to be pretty egregious (exceeding an entire album or two, that is, more than a hundred megabytes) before it bothered me.

Johnny Walker (Ekko_Johnny) | 2 comments Thanks for the feedback, Jerry. Good to know.
