In the most honest way I can say it, I saw the movie Nicholas and Alexandria in 1970. It was the most depressing movie and the ending literally gave me nightmares for a very long time. This book is not one that is on my to-read shelf. It is such a sad tale.

It maybe a sad tale but it's part of our history that has to be noted. any book that has to do with this era practically ends in the same way and I've read these 3 books:1.

Carolyn Meyerand they all have the same ending where they die it's noted in the epilouge but you would like to think they would of escapted in the first one it talks about Olga escaping to America not true though. and yes this one is on my TBR.
I may reconsider. My daughter is really interested in this time in history and the family. She may check them out, before I do.Your 3 choices look interesting.Thanks.
What's great about The Lost Crown is that, even though the other books talk about Tatiana or Anastasia and the other girls are all side characters, it's different. All the girls have a say in their opinions of their father's choices and Russia's downfall. Ms. Miller does a very good job of separating their voices so that no two girls sound alike. In short, this is a great read if you have any interest at all in the ill-fated Romanov sisters, and you'll finish it feeling like you know these four girls personally.
I loved this book. Yes I knew how it would end, but I enjoyed OTMA'S viewpoint. I liked the author's style of writing. Each chapter viewed from the point of one sister. I found myself favoring one sister over the others (Tatiana- I relate to her 'governess' attitude). Overall, a great book.
