there is one thing that annoyed me about this. The UK is only just releasing them and they are not releasing them in order. what the hell is up with that. yes it's true you don't have to read them in order because it's different characters in each book but i would still like to read them in order. I got the first 3 in the order in which the UK released them which was goddess of legend (7) goddess of the rose (4) and goddess of spring (2) how does that even make sense???
and what is up with them all being goddess of... except for book 6 it's just weird.
Yeah all the titles except one is strange and some of the books don't even have the right order wrote in them that's why I ended up with number 7 and I didn't have GR at the time to even check!
i had GR and i heard of the series but none of them were out here and then that was the first one to get released here so i got it because i loved her partholon series only to go on GR later on that day once i got home to find out it was book 7. i was like what?then when i looked on amazon UK found out like another 4/5 were getting released before book 1 i was like what? how does that make sense?
i know i can read them in any order but i don't want to.
Hi, folks! As Holly knows, I'm a bud of PC's and also have inside info about her Goddess books, ESPECIALLY Goddess of Legend. So if you have specific questions, I sure can try to answer as best I can. But I stress, I'm not her "voice" only a good friend (And if you own or have a copy of Goddess of Legend, you can check the dedication, since it's to me :)).I couldn't tell you why the books are coming out in a weird order in the UK. I can certainly ask PC, but my guess is, she has no idea what the Brit publisher's "plan" is, or why they're releasing them the way they are.
I DO know, she was stressed, bigtime, because her deadline was hard and fast, because her US publisher told her the UK publisher was DEMANDING that it be released in December '10, or the UK pub would do mean things. So US pub was on her, UK pub was on her, and she had another deadline looming for her House of Night series at the same time. But she muscled through beautifully.
Best to you all, and love to hear all of your comments.
Trish Jensen
BTW, I've heard from different places people calling it anywhere from book 1-8! Since Legend is the 7th and final book in that series, where anyone's getting 8, is hilarious. But they say it so authoritatively, as if they have a secret none of us (including PC) knows. The only thing I can speculate is that it's coming out in different order all over the world.
Trish
Whoa! Are you sure it isn't one of the earlier books given a new title? She wrote 7 books. Publisher wanted her to extend the series and she said no. Legend was the final book. Period. And it was the 7th in the series, the way they were released in the US. But I will certainly ask her what that's all about. And will happily let you know if she decided to slip another one in there after, which I cannot even imagine, because it was a little earlier in this month last year when she turned in Legend. How she POSSIBLY wrote another one in that year, with all of her other deadlines, I cannot even imagine, unless she's found a way to live without sleep and a life. They are, in US release order, 1) Goddess Of The Sea 2) Goddess Of Spring 3)Goddess Of Light 4) Goddess Of The Rose 5) Goddess Of Love 6) Warrior Rising 7) Goddess Of Legend. She fought to have Legend be titled Goddess Of Camelot, but no-go.Trish
i know lolaccording to amazon
Goddess of the Sea - July 7th
Goddess of Spring - Out Now
Goddess of Light - Out Now
Goddess of the Rose - Out Now
Goddess of Love - Out Now
Warrior Rising - ??????
Goddess of Legend - Out Now
Goddess of Troy - Out Now
If you check the copyright page of Goddess of Troy, original copyright, 2008, printed in the US as Warrior Rising. Book 6 of 7! :) I swear! They may mistakenly be calling it the 8th book, but it is not. It's a new title on an older book. Phew! You guys had me thinking I was losing my mind.Trish
yes i just found that i was just about to come on and say i think goddess of troy is the uk version of warrior rising.i wonder y goodreads has it as book 8 then?????
i know. i was so confused and thought that might be the case coz i couldn't find warrior rising on amazon uk
Because the UK publisher is NOT the US publisher. They're paying the US publisher for the right to publish those books in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. US publisher is Berkley (Penguin). UK pub is Little-Brown, I believe. If you looked on Amazon US, you'd see that all of the covers are very different from the UK covers. The UK publisher wanted a certain sepia, black white and gray thing. I'm guessing UK also wanted every book in the series to start with Goddess. Look above at the covers at the beginning of this thread. Which book doesn't match any of the other books up there? That's because it's showing as the US published book, with the US title.Trish
YES I KNOW!UK covers are always different to the US covers is all books most of the time and we always have different publishers. I just reall hate it when they change the name of the book to publish it. I think it's stupid and it confused people.
saying that i do really like it called Goddess of Troy, i honestly thing it fits in with the other books better.
and i think the black covers for the UK are to fit more in with the HON and Goddess of Partholon Series as in both series we have black covers with other brighter colors on the covers.
You've got that right, OCD Kate. It's going to tick off a LOT of people who may have paid good money to order the book from the US, only to find that the "new" book IS the old book. You guys are obviously book savvy. You KNOW we authors have zero control over such things, yes? Always grind my teeth when I see someone say, "What was the author THINKING?" when it comes to things we have no control over. But for the most part, it's best not to say anything, as then the person takes it as being defensive or argumentative, and heaven knows readers are the lifeblood for authors. So take it, we do.
totally. I know it's not the authors fault it just really annoys me sometimes when i am talking about a book and someone's like oh it sounds like this, when it's the same book but under a different name.seriously? what's the point in re-naming it.
here we have a angel book that gt released here before the US
but when it got released in the US they released it as
what's the point?
OCD Kate love that name:I'm not familiar with this book, so I don't know when it was released. One guess MIGHT be that a few years back we had a TV series called Angel, and the pub didn't want readers thinking it might be a book about the show, or a serialized version of the show, or something like that. Also, I may be wrong since these are tiny thumbnails of the covers, but am I seeing right? Is she a brunette on one cover and blonde on the other? What's up with that? And ooh, book covers, don't get me started.. :)
Trish
yes she i which is reli annoying. It's like giving 2 completely different images for the same character??????dnt get me started, as u can tell i'm OCD about books :)
i know. i know why the added the burn bit it's something important in the book but still dnt see why they changed it lol
i like it as angel because it's called the angel trilogy. loli like the UK title but the US cover lol
not that i mind, i have it on kindle lol
Cupcake Cassie:First, I'm partial to the name Cassie, as that's my dog's name. Don't know if that's a compliment or an insult . My cousin's daughter, Jillie (who just got married this last weekend) would have been a Chloe, except that I'd just gotten a puppy and named her Chloe, and my cuz's wife was so mad (I had NO idea Chloe was on her baby name list!) and refused to call her daughter a dog's name. Right, like she invented the name and I STOLE the name from her.
But I digress. I sincerely doubt the TV show Angel was born because of the book. Angel was a spin-off of either Buffy, or Charmed, can't remember which, starring David Boreanz, now one of the stars of Bones.
BTW, you guys are fun. So glad I stumbled on this topic. :)
Trish
And OCD Kay: I LOVE my Kindle, too. But at least 85% of my "reading" these days is listening to audio books.
Yeah Angel was a spin off from Buffy, I know because I loved that series :D
My name Cassie, is a shortened version of my full name :D

Cassie:Is it, by chance, short for Cassandra? I ask because in a Christmas story I wrote for the anthology, 'Twas The Night (which also comes out in audio this fall...yippee!) my heroine's name is Cassandra Lee. Everyone calls her Callie, though, because her little sister, when a tot, couldn't handle that mouthful, so it came out as Callie. And it stuck.
I was born Patricia Louise, and -- horror of horrors -- for the first 6 months of my life, my parents called me Patty Lou. My oldest sister, bless her heart, hated that name, refused to call me anything but Trishie, and family finally gave in, because I would only respond to my sister. So even as a babe, I apparently was in total agreement.:)
My brother to this day still calls me Pattie Lou, just because he lives to annoy me. :)
Okay, WAY off-topic. Sorry about that!
Trish
That's fine we kind of go off topic alot here :D
Yes, it is short for Cassandra, my nephew couldn't always pronounce it but said Tassie instead lol

no i dnt like audio books. i like to actually read them not listen to them.cass, i actually think we are unable 2 stay on topic lol
Ooh, completely disagree about audio. I TRIED, at least a dozen times, to get into Harry Potter, and just couldn't do it. Because of that, I wouldn't go to the movies, nothing with BF, because it just didn't interest me. Out of desperation, he stuck the first Harry Potter in the CD player on a long trip, and basically ambushed me. Jim Dale brought Harry Potter to life like the books NEVER could, and I was hooked.Must have listened to the entire series more than three times. And now I do nothing without an audio book. Walk my dog, exercise, garden, even short trips to the grocery store. I've "read" more in the last five years than I ever would if not for audio.
The result, I walk dog more, exercise more, have a BEAUTIFUL garden, and don't mind long car trips at all.
You could say audio books are good for my health. :) And my dog, family, and flowers love me more, too. :)
Trish, who also knows Audible adores me
