Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments This is Carol's idea, and I think that it's a good one. We tend to get off topic, especially in the Introduce yourself thread, so maybe it's a good idea to have a thread were we do nothing except drink tea and yap about anything you want.

No topic except for the ones you guys create.

I'm drinking a beer, does it count? lol

In the summer I will often forgo slaving over a hot stove and have two beers for dinner haha... I love cold drinks, always chugging water through the day and tea and coffee, I must be part camel ( one that doesn't like doing dishes).

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I only have light wine.

message 11: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I drink lots of water and tea throughout the day. Sone Diet Pepsi too. If I am going to have a glass of wine or a beer, I usually do it on the weekend when I have the time and can watch a movie too.

message 12: by Mark (new)

Mark (markmckeejr) | 3 comments I just picked up one of those Tazo or Tao or whatever it's called teas that comes in a silver tin and has brewing/steeping instructions in English and French.

message 13: by Scott (new)

Scott Tazo is a good brand.

Dude, you have to try the passion fruit one, I'm addicted to it, so good iced.

message 15: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments The Republic of Tea stuff is normally awesome, but lately I have been going with coffee or the lazy Crystal Light iced tea route.

On another note, I <3 Minecraft, but it's messing with my reading habits.

message 16: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I like Crystal Light. My favorite of that is rooibos herbal tea with mandarin.

message 17: by Scott (new)

Scott Isn't that that sugary powdered stuff? Does that even count as tea?

message 18: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Crystal Light is bad for you you know *crosses arms and gives stern look to the Crystal Light drinkers*

I'm always trying new teas and am especially fond of peppermint, darjeeling and earl grey. Stash is a decent budget brand as is Red Rose and Celestial Seasonings. I'm going to have to try Tazo i keep seeing it on the shelf at the store.

Aspartame and lots of other artificial sweeteners are bad for you because of the cancer risk rises with consumption.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Aspartame sounds like an italian condiment.

Aspa... who???

message 23: by Elaina (new)

Elaina ^ Aspartame is just another artificial sweetener. There's a lot of controversy going around about it (like every other artificial sweetener, lol).

message 24: by Scott (new)

Scott Why can't people just eat real food???

Kasia (kasia_s) | 51 comments Scott wrote: "Why can't people just eat real food???"

Frankenfood rules the country, everything comes out of a box.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) Per the American Cancer Society's page on aspartame, there has never been a study which showed that aspartame is carcinogenic, nor that it causes any other health issues (unless you have a rare genetic disorder that I couldn't even begin to pronounce.)

Personally I avoid artificial sweeteners because I think they taste disgusting, and they have that nasty aftertaste, but that's another issue entirely.

message 27: by Scott (new)

Scott I don't understand why people hate sugar so much.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) I love sugar. Probably a little bit too much.

message 29: by Elaina (last edited Jun 21, 2011 09:43AM) (new)

Elaina Ha ha, I myself am guilty of drinking Crystal Light (with all that aspartame lol), but they do have a few boxes that use a natural sweetener. Just like everything else, consuming aspartame (or sugar) in moderation won't kill you =P

message 30: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) I don't hate sugar, I love it. It's just hard for me to choose to drink something with 100 calories, rather than an option with 0 calories. I can drink the 0 calorie option, and have a cookie besides, or just have the 100 calorie minus the cookie. I like cookies!!

message 31: by Scott (new)

Scott Calories are just a myth.

message 32: by Dawn (last edited Jun 21, 2011 09:53AM) (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) A myth that make me fat :P

message 33: by Scott (new)

Scott It's all in your mind!!

Quite gross. :(

Scott wrote: "It's all in your mind!!"

are you saying she's a fat head?

message 36: by Scott (new)

Scott Don't put words in my mouth! They have too many calories.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

But they're a myth!

Like rain on your wedding day.

Or a free ride when you're already late.

I could be mistaken, though.

message 38: by Scott (new)

Scott I thought it was a free lunch that was a myth.

That's irony.

how ironical.

That's why I drink a lot of water. Leaves me free for more cake! :) And cookies.

message 42: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Haha actually "Ironic" isn't ironic at all they're all just a series of unfortunate events with no irony which drove many a college professor insane

message 43: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I agree with the whole sugar = gaining weight thing. I recently cut out 90% of what was my current sugar intake and have lost 30 pounds. *knocks on wood*

I feel better, too. Lots more energy.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

I eat Hawaiian grown sugarcanes. Skips the whole baking process and goes direct to the source.

Mmm mmm diabetes.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Are you spying on me?

message 46: by Jason (last edited Jun 21, 2011 05:19PM) (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments LOL Love that pic, Tracey!

I still love my sugar, but the artificial stuff grows on you, too.

message 47: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments awesome

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments My daughter is into the whole "Truvia" sweetener thing. Supposedly it's better for you than any of the artificial sweeteners (supposedly since it's from the stevia plant). So far there's only a couple of powdered drinks that have it...Crystal Light has one line but not all there drinks have it (and it can be hard to find) and (oddly) some Wal-Mart brand drinks have it...

Oh well, I'll stick with mixing my Kool Aid into unsweet tea. It has sugar and I do need to lose a bit of weight...but it tastes better and so far as I know sugar in moderation isn't causing anything new.
