Well, as much as I'm not loving "Little Men," I did come across this quotable gem from Miss Alcott today: "No person, no matter how vivid an imagination he may have, can invent anything half so droll as the freaks and fancies that originate in the lively brains of little people."

You know, for being a "spinster," Alcott seems to genuinely love kids, and she totally has them pegged as the bizarre little creatures they are . . . .
