We have never had a film thread and I've only just discovered it now!! There are stacks of films we could be discussing... Has anybody seen Totsi? I haven't seen it but I'd love to hear from people who have.

I saw it and loved it, but that was right as it first came out in Scotland and so I couldn't discuss it in anymore detail.
Oh I bet there are tons we could list here and even break down by Country. I will start making a list of ones that come to mind.

Just don't watch it if you're already depressed.

I will need to watch it on a happy day with lots of sunshine (except... then I'd be outside enjoying the sunshine...)

One of my absolute all-time favorites is "Keïta: The Heritage of the Griot" (Dany Kouyaté, Burkina Faso), which integrates the story of Sundiata into a modern boy's coming-of-age. (I always show this when I teach Sundiata and the students truly love it.)I also lovelovelove the award-winning "Binta and the Great Idea." Wonderful!
Another great is "La petite vendeuse de Soleil" (The Little Girl Who Sold the Sun, Djibril Diop Mambéty).
I saw this article on the cast of Half of a Yellow Sun. That was the first I'd heard about them turning it into a film! It is still on my TBR list, but I have several friends who claim this as their favorite book.

I am not much of a movie goer but will go see this film.

Has anyone heard about Solar Grandmothers?
