Ok, so we'll try and hold a great debate 1 or 2 times every month. I want to give credit to tiffany (the non-mod) for coming up with this name. Anyways. There will be a topic and members will pick sides. Each sides will discuss why they are right and pick a team leader. The team leaders will decide when the debate will be held and how long it will be held. The mods will come to a conclusion on who wins and why and then the debate will be archived.

Questions?

Also, we need a topic, any suggestions?

I think that's kind of hard because no one can take sides of new born babies you don't know what they are like. That really is a good thought. What about:

Do you think Harry is a good chosen one,

if not,is there someone who might better fit the title, might have played the role better?

New topic. Who is the more patient one, Hermione or Ron? Remember, Hermione makes a lot of rash decisions.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

oh...i kinda abandoned this...oops!
And i'd say Hermione is more patient. Mostly because of that part in the seventh with Ron leaving them...and he's not patient enough to do homework, while Hermione does all of their's, plus some in the third.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

Hard one again...probably Ginny though. Think of all those years she lived with Harry when they were married? I would go crazy! Since he has anger problems and everything...and she was best friends with Luna Lovegood

message 29: by Arti, ready to bring back the action (new)

Arti (a3books4) | 4234 comments Mod
No but his angre went down after Voldy died. And Ginny was Hermione's best friends too. Thats what it says on Harry Potter wiki

message 30: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 14, 2011 10:53AM) (new)

True, but also she never told her kids who Harry was. Ot mustve been hard, not being able to tell your kids when they're always wondering why people are staring.

so?

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

She's gotta be pretty patient with them, and she was smart at Hogwarts. Plus she has sox brothers! That'd drive me crazy...

Hermione was smart! Sh was the only one who believed that Harry didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire. She was patient in the seventh book

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

In the seventh yeah, but we don't know about Ginny. She was at a school with Death Eaters for teachers. It'd be hard to deal with them

message 36: by Arti, ready to bring back the action (new)

Arti (a3books4) | 4234 comments Mod
Dealing with Harry in his bad temper is harder!

message 37: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 14, 2011 11:25AM) (new)

Oh during the seventh? Yeah, I suppose there it is. Ginny at least had lots of friends. But still, Ginny grew up in a poor, large family where she had hand-me-down robes and everything...and she lasted even when they were going through rough patches and ministry/family problems. Even if she was pure-blood, and knew how to use magic

Hermione had to modify her parents memory! She could have lost them forever!

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

She could've! But she's gone every year anyway, it can't be that hard for a year.

message 40: by Arti, ready to bring back the action (new)

Arti (a3books4) | 4234 comments Mod
This is forever! With the knowing that you might never ever see them again!

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Ginny also might not! With Death Eaters at Hogwarts, and if they were discovered theyd most likely be killed! It was a huge risk, and she had no outside contact except for what she got through Aberforth

message 42: by Arti, ready to bring back the action (new)

Arti (a3books4) | 4234 comments Mod
But she got back with her parents and they still remembered her. And Ginny did tell her kids about Harry and Voldemort,

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

Did she? In the books it didn't seem like it..."Why are they all staring?" Then Ron covered for them and said, "Its me. I'm famous."
and she must've been happy to get back with her parents! Just like another school year being gone. Just with the added worry her parents might have no clue who she is.

message 44: by Pandy (new)

Pandy | 637 comments I think it's reasonable to assume that Harry and Ginny tell their kids something about Voldemort and Harry's past. I just don't think the kids understand the significance of anything they might know yet. They weren't around then so they may not realize what a threat Voldemort was and how important Harry is in the eyes of the Wizarding community. I don't know...you'd think that the kids would be used to the staring (at least now and then). Or you'd think that they'd come across more information while reading.

Yeah, but during school years, Hermiione know's she'll see them after. During the journey she had no idea

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Pandy: I guess...that seems reasonable. That they don't know how famous, or what was so important about him.
