I read this book last month and I have to say I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to the discussion about this book.
I am actually listening to this book and on Chapter 16 of the audio version. So far I am enjoying this book. Nora Roberts has that great ability to immerse you into whatever the subject of her book is so that you are able to feel and be there with you mind, in this case it's Smoke Jumping. The main romance in this book is pretty good, and I think I know who the bad guy is and guesses it pretty early. Will see if I'm right.
No problem Kathleen, here is my final review:Whenever I'm looking for an audio book, Nora Roberts/JD Robb is my "goto" author. I enjoy reading her books, but find that I get so much more out of the audio versions of the book. In the case of Chasing Fire it didn't disappoint. I tend to love her series compared to her stand alones, this is one of her stronger ones.
Nora Roberts has that great ability to immerse you into whatever the subject of her book is so that you are able to feel and be there with you mind, whether it be the hills of Ireland, the beauty of making cakes, writing comic books, the beauty of the Chesapeke, or a murder investigation she is able to immerse you into the world with her words, in this case its Smoke Jumping.
In this story Rowan is a Smoke Jumper and she meets Gull. She's resistant to having a relationship with a fellow jumper, but he's persistent and fall in love they do. This is a mature and realistic relationship, no big drama's or misunderstandings. It was refreshing. I also enjoyed the relationship of Rowan's father and his lady friend it was sweet.
The drama of this story involves murder and sabotage of the Smoke Jumper's equipment. I guessed fairly early who was guilty, but enjoyed the story.
