Uncle Silas
Ooh...how did this one come about? I was going to read it with the 1001 Books... group in August, but it got pipped to the post by something else. If you're not starting until August, I might join you. It's supposed to be spooky isn't it? It'll be a good lead in to my Halloween readings! :)
Hi Amanda - yeah I can't wait. I realized I had been quiet with the "Chunksters" lately, so I thought why not host a side read, and well Uncle Silas came about. Hope you'll get to join us!
Jason, do you know if there are any especially good reviews for a version of this on audiobook?I've reading Pillars of the Earth via audio, and I think audio works especially well with the Chunkster-type schedule.
Lame! I found that that's the best way for me to keep up with 50-page-a-week type reading. I'm working my way through both Pillars and the Pickwick Papers that way right now.
Hi Izzy and welcome aboard! I see you're from the UK where this great gothic tome is set! Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Wow, I didn't realise us British were so well represented here! I make three.Nice to have you aboard Kristi - I don't think I've read a Chunkster you were reading too?

I think that I will join you with this one. Like Zee it is not my usual type but it does look interesting. It's great to see so many people from the UK as well. I will make it 4.
@Hettie it looks like Anna is from the UK as well, so I think we're up to 5! That's kind of cool seeing as the whole Gothic thing and all ;)
Hi! I'm new to this group but I'd love to join in for the Uncle Silas readalong. I just ordered a copy :)
KC wrote: "Hi! I'm new to this group but I'd love to join in for the Uncle Silas readalong. I just ordered a copy :)"It's also available free from Gutenberg, in various formats -- HTML for reading in a browser, epub, Kindle, plain text, and others, all DRM free.

The first chapters are pure Gothic. Wonderful! But I won't say another word until the discussion officially starts!

Adding the chapters to my Google calendar in hopes that I do this correctly. Wish me luck.
Yet another Brit joining in! I've never read any gothic or horror books before so am intrigued to give this a go
