Anyway... I just bought both 'Archer's Goon' and 'Black Maria', and... God, they have such awful, childish covers!
Most of DWJ's books cover some complicated ideas. It really bugs me that so many of them have covers like that.

Then again, there are some covers I love. *shrug*

So... favorite/least favorite covers, anyone?

My favorite is probably this cover for 'House of Many Ways', and, as I said, my least favorites are this and this.

Somesuchlike | 19 comments I rather like that version of Dogsbody, personally. *shrug* The others tend to take the whole dog thing too far...

Jonathan | 30 comments My Magicians of Caprona cover is pretty good, it features bits and pieces from the duel with the green and white chequerboard figure facing the red and white one, behind the main characters, it doesn't appear to be on goodreads anywhere so you will have to take my word for it.

A lot of her covers seem to feature rather bulgy featured and proportioned people. I must have originally read library book versions and later on bought them, the covers I have now are quite different from those I remember.

Somesuchlike | 19 comments Her books have been out under so many covers. *shrug* I have rather a lot that I originally read under different colours, mostly ones that I got from the school library and bought later.
They are improving a little, though, some of them - I prefer the new covers to some of the older ones.

That sounds nice, Jonathan. Would it be this one? Her official website has most of them. This one is my favorite for The Magicians of Caprona, I think.

I also found some for Dogsbody, Cart and Cwidder (that one actually looks like a serious fantasy book), Deep Secret and Eight Days of Luke. : D

Jonathan | 30 comments Ah well done Penny-Anna, that is indeed the Magicians of Caprona cover! I've got those Dalemark covers too, though I wish I had that old Eight Days of Luke, I have a much less atmospheric one.

Somesuchlike | 19 comments Fiona - I know what you mean. I feel the same way about the covers of some of my books - mainly the Narnia books.
You should try and find out who it is. xD They're obviously a fan.

Jonathan - Oh, lucky! My versions of the Dalemark books look like school reading books. *shudders* I think I'd have liked them better under different covers, to be honest.
They're got Luke perfectly on that cover. I like the one I've got, but I wish I had that one too.

Susie (smisle) | 7 comments Worst cover ever: A Sudden Wild Magic. I think it's the color pallet and style they picked ... I've only ever seen it on romance novels, which some publisher who only skimmed the plot might think it was.

I don't really have any favorites - they are all in between pretty good and okay.
