Jack | 286 comments I always think that we all should have a writer to look up to, or just really like. If it is just because they are AWESOME, the had a hard life but succeeded and became great, or for any reason!
Well, I respect all authors, but one of my favorites is Suzanne Collins. Partly because I met her, but I LovE THG. And of course JK Rowling...

Herrrrrm......
I don't really have any writing role models. But I am currently loving Emily Bronte, her sister Charlotte, and Jane Austen.

Connor Kinkade (connork) Mine is by far Tolkien. I haven't read anything that matches his writing style EVER, but there are better authors though. I dislike most authors that are from the 20th century and on, but I like C.S. Lewis, Charles Dickens, Alexandre Dumas, Jane Austen, R. L. Stevenson, and Arthur Conan Doyle.

message 8: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) Right now I'm reading Jane Eyre and it's really well written. Probably more so than Pride and Prejudice.

message 9: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 194 comments But ACD is from the 19th century... mostly.

message 10: by Jack (new)

Jack | 286 comments Oh, I am going to read Jane Eyre. My mom wants me to and I think it looks good

IT'S AMAZING!!! I'M ONLY 4 CHAPTERS IN BUT IT'S AWESOME!!!!! Kind of depressing though really.

message 13: by Jack (new)

Jack | 286 comments Thanks! I'll get to it soon. Are you almost ready for HP?

message 14: by Connor (new)

Connor Kinkade (connork) No, I probably won't be for another month or two. I have other books that I told people I'd read first, then I probably will be. Knowing our library, they'll have the last three and maybe the second, and they won't have the first or the third or the fourth or something. Our library is SO stupid!!!! *grumble*

message 15: by LM (new)

LM My Library is the same way. :I

Sammy (ireneadler) | 194 comments All those ads for JAne Eyre a few weeks ago were really bugging me, but I might read it still.

Sammy (ireneadler) | 194 comments I saw the trailer. Much less boring than I anticipated it to look.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I saw the trailer; I think they did a pretty good job of casting Mr. Rochester. I won't see the movie though.

xD

I'd sayyyyy...
J.R.R. Tolkien
C.S. Lewis
Jane Austen
Jeff Shaara

Umm... can't think of anyone else at the moment, but I know there are lots more.

As for the Bronte sisters--good writers, yes, but they write very gothic novels. As well written as those books are, they're a bit too dramatic and romantic for me. So, I guess I can say that I don't really want to emulate their writing.

message 41: by Jack (new)

Jack | 286 comments I love Holmes!

message 42: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (ireneadler) | 194 comments As in Sherlock Holmes?

message 43: by Jack (new)

Jack | 286 comments Yeah!

message 44: by Iain (new)

Iain Wright (iainrobwright) | 9 comments J A Konrath does a huge amount to help aspiring authors, and for that reason he is a role model of mine. Stephen King's rags to riches story is pretty inspirational also (Plus the fact he has always been a family man, despite his wealth).
