Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I doubt if I need much introduction from my ramblings over at the forum.

A big fan of fantasy and science fiction but have mellowed as I got older and now read all sorts of things.

Live in a sort of calm chaos with Dotty no-ears my much loved cat.

Can be a bit geeky at times.
EDIT: Oh.... I also go by the name of Simon in that other universe.

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Hi, Highwayman,

Thanks for starting the group. And hello to all.

I'm Carl - dad, author of 'The Time Hunters' series, lecturer and sporadic car-booter.

I have a soft spot for naan breads, peanut butter and old stuff. I also have a scar on my scalp from being hit by a big piece of wood with a rusty nail in it. This might explain a lot.

message 3: by Denise (new)

Denise Taylor (denisebrum) | 4 comments Hi. I'm Denise. Denisebrum on Amazon. I read all sorts of stuff and am currently enjoying The Digital Wolf.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm John, also reading the Digital Wolf, think Angelas idea of a monthly book sounds a great idea.

message 5: by Cornelius (new)

Cornelius Harker | 830 comments Hi all, I'm Cornelius, author of the 'Words to the Wise' saga. I joined the group, updated my profile, and then promptly lost the group. That isn't a good start at all.

message 7: by willie (new)

willie (williewit) Aloha !
I`ve worked part-time since `1979, so have had a lot of time to read in, I work in a library because I used to spend so much time there I thought it would be easier.
I have recently started writing little stories, something that still surprises me. In a nice way though.
:0)

message 11: by Gary (new)

Gary Dowden (garydow) | 15 comments Hi all. I'm Gary (garydow on the forums) and whilst I love crime fiction, I'll give most genres a go and have recently finished both of Ali Cooper's books (Girl on a Swing and Cave) which were quite a departure for me.
Dislikes: Almost all true life (I like to lose myself in fiction!)
Currently living in Somerset.

message 12: by Bluejay44 (new)

Bluejay44 Hi, I'm Joy. Living in Kent with my dog, family nearby.
Been a bookworm since childhood, going through various genres on the way. Favorite at this time is historical fiction with period romance and fantasy / time travel also getting a look in. With so many free books for kindle it is easy to try out all kinds of books.

Jo | 1 comments Hi i'm Jo (Jo-Anne on Amazon), I also work in a library and my colleagues thought that i'd gone over to the darkside when I got my kindle!! I like reading historial and supernatural romance, with the odd bit of sci-fi and crime thrown in for good measure.

message 30: by Harry (new)

Harry Smith (1923amemoir) | 18 comments Hi:
I'm Harry and I am 88. I am the author of 1923: A Memoir. My book has been warmly received by most readers and reviewers. 1923 is not a nostalgic book about a long ago and happy era. Instead, it is a realistic description of how my family and others in Yorkshire were effected by the Great Depression. 1923 also recalls my life during the Second World War in the RAF. It is on kindle and only 83p 1923 A Memoir Lies and Testaments by Harry Leslie Smith

Cheers,
Harry

message 39: by wordsandmusic (last edited Jul 19, 2011 02:00AM) (new)

wordsandmusic | 4 comments Former specialist librarian; wide literary tastes; one rule - I will not read any book or watch any film described as 'heartwarming' or 'uplifting'. This doubtless deprives me of many pleasures, but also saves me a lot of time . . . I also believe that there's far more good reading out there than I shall manage in my lifetime, so I rarely re-read anything.

message 46: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Hi!! I'm Jud (or Judder from amazon forum) I'm originally from Lisburn but am currently living in Aberdeen and just like everyone else on here I love books. I'm addicted to my kindle and because of this have lost my husband due to lack of attention, I do leave food out for him and it disappears to I'm pretty sure he's ok. I like almost any genre of book but am going through a fantasy phase at the minute thanks to Game of Thrones!

[Roll on lunchtime for some more reading woot!]

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments "I'm addicted to my kindle and because of this have lost my husband due to lack of attention, I do leave food out for him and it disappears to I'm pretty sure he's ok."

They are quite adaptable. I expect he will find his way down the pub.

message 50: by Angela (new)

Angela (bubblyfish) | 53 comments Hi, I'm Angela and I am a Yorkshire lass who grew up in Southern Africa and now live in Dorset.

I was introduced to books by my grandmother at a very early age and have been a bookworm ever since. I would rather curl up with a good book than almost anything else.

Currently work full time plus (running own business) so my reading time is limited and very precious. That's why it has taken me so long to actually post here and what a lovely surprise to see so many people already joined in.

I've only had my Kindle a few months and really love it to bits because its so much more portable. Hope I don't lose my husband to it too - I have noticed a few mumblings about me reading again! He doesn't read much at all - maybe a manual if he gets stuck doing something.
