For me - it is Gifts from the Sea by Ann Morrow Lindberg. My Mom had a weathered copy of it, and once at her house, I had nothing to read and thought what the heck. I was hooked. A friend told me it is a book you buy in your 30's, read in your 40's, and understand in your 50's and beyond. Each time I read it, I get more from it.
I recently gave my Mom (and me) audiobook of Claudette Colbert reading it - it is more charming than ever.
Where the Red Fern GrowsI remember reading this is a kid and for some reason it ranked on my list as my favorite book at the age of ten. I reread this book every summer, and every summer I get so wrapped up in the story like it is the first time. I laugh,I cry and I feel the suspense over and over again. My husband doesn't understand why I would reread a book that makes me cry, but I don't understand why hasn't ever read this book...
Gone With the Wind
and
Mere Christianity
I usually don't reread books but these two I pick up over and over again.

I always end up reading and re-reading Shakespeare's sonnets and some of his plays. It's cheesy, but Shakespeare felt like my best friend through a difficult part of my life and I always keep returning to say hi.
Anne wrote: "I have a love for the Anne of Green Gables series of books. I have read them a few times, the descriptions are so beautiful and Anne is one of my favorite characters of all time. I still say this..."I love Anne of Green Gables too.
Gone with the Wind, The Thornbirds, Sho-Gun, The Stand and the Talisman. I try and re-read at least one of them every year.
I typically don't like to re-read books. However, the one book that has truly become better and better for me with each re-read is Pride and Prejudice. The first time I read that book, I had to look up the word "let" in the dictionary among many other words. Also, Gone With the Wind would be another book that I wouldn't mind re-reading, although I haven't yet re-read it.
Pride and PrejudiceRebecca
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
These are my go-tos when I haven't got anything else to read at the moment, aka when I'm too lazy to get myself to a bookstore/library.
Gone with the Wind seems to pop up a lot on this discussion. I think I might have to read it. ;)
For me, its all Jane Austen books, The Anne books, Harry Potter and all the Georgette Heyer books- they make me laugh and cry and comfort me when I'm tired or down.Priya vasudevanMiddle Time
