Becky (divadog) | 1015 comments So there are those books that touch us and we return to again and again. Maybe it takes us back to a place or time, but somehow they stir our soul.

What is that book for you and why?

Becky (divadog) | 1015 comments For me - it is Gifts from the Sea by Ann Morrow Lindberg.

My Mom had a weathered copy of it, and once at her house, I had nothing to read and thought what the heck. I was hooked. A friend told me it is a book you buy in your 30's, read in your 40's, and understand in your 50's and beyond. Each time I read it, I get more from it.

I recently gave my Mom (and me) audiobook of Claudette Colbert reading it - it is more charming than ever.

Allison (thebookwheel) Where the Red Fern Grows

I remember reading this is a kid and for some reason it ranked on my list as my favorite book at the age of ten. I reread this book every summer, and every summer I get so wrapped up in the story like it is the first time. I laugh,I cry and I feel the suspense over and over again. My husband doesn't understand why I would reread a book that makes me cry, but I don't understand why hasn't ever read this book...

Gone With the Wind

Mere Christianity

I usually don't reread books but these two I pick up over and over again.

L.D. | 3 comments I always end up reading and re-reading Shakespeare's sonnets and some of his plays. It's cheesy, but Shakespeare felt like my best friend through a difficult part of my life and I always keep returning to say hi.

I love Anne of Green Gables too.

Terri | 95 comments Gone with the Wind, The Thornbirds, Sho-Gun, The Stand and the Talisman. I try and re-read at least one of them every year.

message 9: by Viola (new)

Viola | 1014 comments I typically don't like to re-read books. However, the one book that has truly become better and better for me with each re-read is Pride and Prejudice. The first time I read that book, I had to look up the word "let" in the dictionary among many other words.

Also, Gone With the Wind would be another book that I wouldn't mind re-reading, although I haven't yet re-read it.

message 10: by Jessie Marie (new)

Jessie Marie (jessiemreads) Pride and Prejudice
Rebecca
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

These are my go-tos when I haven't got anything else to read at the moment, aka when I'm too lazy to get myself to a bookstore/library.

Gone with the Wind seems to pop up a lot on this discussion. I think I might have to read it. ;)

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 101 comments Jane Eyre.

I'm such a girl. Every time I read that, I fall in love all over again. I love how Rochester showed that he liked Jane. As if it's a whole new emotion for him and he doesn't know what to do with it.
