Chitchat! I love that word!!! Haha
Ah, that's better :) We have this in another group I'm in, and it helps keep everything a bit more organized.
YOU GUYS!!! I just found out that The Hunger Games is being filmed just, like, an hour away from me! Ohmigod, that's so awesome! Wish I could drive out there and sneak some photos, lol!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! Has anyone ever heard of the graphic novel Persepolis????? I just watched the movie, and I am literally crying my eyes out right now......GAH!
really??? GET JENNIFER LAWRENCE'S AUTOGRAPH FOR ME!She's one of my favorite new actresses. She's fantasic!
So, I've been watching the anime Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch on Youtube. I really like it, it's light and fluffy, and it's kind of my guilty pleasure. It should definitely be watched in a light-hearted tone. Just pure fun. :)
Yeah, I'm not a fan, either. I only watch MMPPP because I really like the mermaids and the mythology. I've watched, like, maybe one episode of another anime, but it's just not for me.
The only anime/manga I've liked is Fruits Basket :) Which is very good.
The Mermaid Melody anime isn't in English anywhere is it?

Nope, and I wish it was! It was supposed to be released here, but the company lost the license. But there are many places on Youtube where the anime has English subtitles. That's how I've been watching it. :)
So today was the first day back at school, and I can already tell it's gonna be a doozy. So I might be on here (including the Blog) a lot less during weekdays. :( Oh, well. There's always weekends, though!
School over here is pretty easy (I'm homeschooled) so still be here quite a bit. I'll try and keep up with some of the new releases and whatnot.
Ah, college!!I'm in eighth grade here. There's already lots of drama (I take some classes with other people).
Senior year is actually off to a pretty great start! Although Chemistry and English are going to take up a lot of time. Here in NC we have a HUGE project that, if we fail, we can't graduate. And it's going to eat up a lot of time, since I have to devote at least 22 hours to my mentor, and then typing up the report and creating the physical project as well. Sigh...stressful, stressful.Ooh, but in English we started reading this really awesome book (and I usually HATE the books they pick out) called
A bunch of kids who have to survive on an island? Awesome! And we're also going to be reading Frankenstein later in the semester, which I've really wanted to check out. :)
I read Frankenstein in like third grade. I enjoyed it for sure.Don't they all eat each other in the end in Lord of the Flies?

Lol, not sure, but I heard where someone mentioned that. It's actually pretty good, but I hear it gets really terrifying.
It was pretty scary towards the end. My brother was really in to old monster movies so I've seen the classic film too.
Awesome! I really wanna read Dracula too, but everytime I check it out, I never have the time to read it. What I have read is awesome, though. (Though I have to say, the episode where Buffy meets Dracula is one of my all-time fave Buffy episodes!)
I tried to write about vampires a while ago, it just never worked out. It was going to be a satire type thing.
So here's a magazine article I stumbled upon from my Google alert. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/...While it does give us a lot of info about the mermaid projects coming out soon, I agree with the commentor who said the article was offensive. The article makes it seem like mermaid fans and those who dress as mermaids are freaks just following some trend. Heck, I've been obsessed with mermaids since I was three years old, and I admire those people who dress as mermaids and mermen. They have a lot more courage and confidence than I do to be able to slip on a tail in public, and I respect that. Plus, the article lumps all male mermaid-lovers as effeminate, and that's so not true. But I think the writer of this article should have stopped being so general and snarky about something that matters so much to us mer-lovers out there.
Guitar Chick wrote: "I tried to write about vampires a while ago, it just never worked out. It was going to be a satire type thing."I have a few vamp ideas, too, but I dunno. Right now, I think I'll just stick to my mermaids and my shape-shifting dinosaurs. (Yes, you read that right. :D)
That's sucky...A lot of people think it's really strange that I like merpeople 'cause I'm generally into more "boyish" things. I think mermaids are edgy and pretty boyish myself. They're only thinking of the sweet ones and all that sit on rocks and comb their hair. It's completely ridiculous.
I know! I've always been "the boy who likes mermaids" all throughout my school years. People still come up to me and are like "You still like mermaids?" I used to deny it, but now I tell them flat-out that yes, I do. Everyone has the Ariel image ingrained in their heads. (Besides, I'm a dude, so why is it considered a bad thing that my obsession is with super-hot girls? :D)I actually have to give Pirates 4 some kudos. They're slowly changing the public's view on mermaids. Everyone comes up to me and says, "Have you seen the new Pirates? The mermaids are evil and eat people." And I tell them the same thing: "That's how they were in the old stories."
Yes, fairly ridiculous. I shouldn't have to hide my obession. And the friends who are real and true to you are the ones who don't judge you for what you like and stick with you. And I'm lucky to have friends who understand. But by now, most people in this backwoods town don't care anyway. If you're not a football player or cheerleader, you can usually pass under the radar unnoticed anyway. :D
Which I appreciate. And for the record Garrett, I think it takes more guts to be a boy be into whatever interests the most and that you have a passion for, then to like something "boyish" and hide it away.
Aw, thanks, GC! That means a lot! Yep, I've never been into the typical guy stuff: sports, video games, all that stuff. I've always had my head underwater! :DAnd I used to carry around the Twilight books without shame. *cowers in guilt* But now, I've gotten out of the Twilight stuff. Instead, I found the marvelous creation that is Buffy. (Which my AP teacher jokes with me about. He also always criticizes Harry Potter. I know a few people, you included, who would show up at his classroom door with torches and pitchforks.)
I get teased for loving Harry POtter to the extent that I play music about it. I get teased for having short hair (they all call me a lezbo), and for mermaids, and watching weird movies (apparently Lord of the Rings and Casablanca and acutal good movies are weird). Can't wait to see what you put up in Ambitious Writers :) We have a folder on publishing that could help.
See, that's just sad. Apparently, actually being a living, breathing human is frowned upon in school. But I'm proud not to be one of those soulless pom-pom-bearing, football-throwing clones. :D I prefer to rise about stereotypes. :)I can't wait to get started. Would it be best if I first create a Universe folder? I have a very...intricate...mythology that people might wanna get caught up on. And I haven't started writing the actual story yet, but I have a good idea for an opening. Do I have to actually have some of my story written and posted if I went ahead and created a Story folder? That might have been in the rules, I can't quite remember.
Basically, I'd post the header at least for your story first and maybe an opening prolouge or something. Then go for the Universe folder. :)
Oh, I missed the whole conversation about loving what you love and not being afraid to show it. I'll just say that I agree wholeheartedly and that I used to hide my "obsession" as well and have only recently told people about it-I sound like I'm at an AA meeting... Anyway, I should have done it a long time ago because now my gifts for birthdays and everything usually include mermaid stuff :D It's just that I remember this one girl who was really obsessed with horses in Junior high and people didn't like her because of it. I thought it would be even worse for me because I was obsessed with something that wasn't even real. So I kind of look up to you Garrett. I would never have the guts to be a guy and have people know about it. And yeah, that's a really good point, mermaids are super hot girls. You would think it'd be a more accepted guy thing...
Also, I hope you're really enjoying Lord of the Flies. I grew up watching the black and white movie and was really excited when I read it freshmen year. It's SO GOOD; one of my favorite books :D And if you like it, read The Hunger Games :)

Emily, your comment means a lot - I'm honored to feel looked up to. There's actually a funny story about me and my renowned mermaid obsession that happened at school. I was sitting in Spanish II drawing a mermaid, and the guy sitting next to me noticed. He's the typical jock type, I guess you could say, and rather than making fun of or anything, he actually started to draw one, too! :D I remember thinking, "I cannot believe that one of the biggest jocks in school is sitting here drawing a mermaid." And he was going around school showing the drawing to everyone! Believe me, I was astounded. And the Lord of the Flies is really good! It's funny, 'cause I actually thought of The Hunger Games while reading it. It sounded very Hunger Games-ish. :) Maybe it's time I finally jump on the THG bandwagon and read 'em.
That is such an awesome story! lol and YES read it! It's so good! The first trailer for the movie is coming out tomorrow and I'm so excited! Hunger Games has actually become my second obsession :D
I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I'll definitely have to check it out! :D Lol, I should probably start compiling a list of all my obsessions, but it'd take a while. Mermaids, of course, would be at the very top. :)
Let's see...mine would be (in no real order): Mermaids, Buffy, True Blood, Jurassic Park, the Daughters of the Moon Series, Vampire Academy, House of Night (though I'm slowly losing patience with that one), The Vampire Diaries, and Supernatural (LOVE that show!). I like to think I'm a well-rounded person. :D
Mine would be like (and again, no real order) Music, Harry Potter, Mermaids, Doctor Who, films, nutella, Lord of the Rings, reading, crazy hats, making silly things, Hunger Games, things that smell good, roller derby, clothes design, Scott Pilgrim....I'll stop there, if I keep going on we'll be here all day.
