Dianne Ascroft | 9 comments Hi Everyone,

I just stumbled across this group a few minutes ago and I'm delighted to find it. I'm a Canadian who lives in Northern Ireland. I love reading about Ireland - especially historical fiction. I read a couple really good historical fictions recently by Irish authors: The Devil To Pay by Hugh Ryan Fitzgerald and Magdeburg by Heather Richardson. The former is set in Ireland.

I also write fiction and my historical fiction novel is set in Ireland. Short stories that I write are also often set here.

I look forward to finding out what everyone else is reading at the moment.

Hi, Dianne. We have a 'What are You Currently Reading' thread that's ongoing. A lot of members constantly update whenever they start a new book, so that's a good place to start. We also have July and quarterly Irish read nominations running at the moment. You can vote for your favourites, now.

I'm new as well. I also write historical fiction but mixed with some fantasy.
Best of luck in your writing.

Hi Diane

Welocme and good luck with your writing. Have you read The Year of the French by Thomas Flanagan? Excellent historical novel about Ireland.
