I would love to and I appreciate your help.... ;) But I'm not ready to dredge up that shit that would come along with starting a novel quite yet. But one day...one day......
It doesn't have to be your memoir. It could be about a dog chasing a cat if you want. My playwrighting professor told me that if a first-time playwright has a GREAT idea for a play, he/she should NOT write that play. Because it will just end up being a really crappy play. He said that you should get your crappy writing out of the way first. And that's the point of Nanowrimo. To write a crappy novel in which nothing happens. :)
Lots of you chicks wanna do it! So go for it!
I took a look, too. Thanks Amanda! I'm very tempted since I've got something stewing and brewing like a secret just waiting to be told.
I miss writing....ok. I'll start something too! You guys are great with the peer pressure..I love it :)
A great quote from this terrific book:Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within
"Writing is ninety percent listening. You listen so deeply to the space around you that it fills you, and when you write, it pours out of you. If you can capture that reality around you, your writing needs nothing else."
Inspiring anyone???
:)
http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnanoThis is the link to the page that describes what Nanowrimo is. Neato! I have a friend who did it last year, and she was sooooo proud of herself. You wouldn't believe!
LOL!! Teri I wish we could do a class together....Iw ould love to be able to live closer to you so we could hang out. I told you I'd be hanging on your coattails in your fabulous life you have :)I really think I'm going to try to enroll in a writing class at the college next semester. This one already started and I am having a really hard time finding Adult classes here in Columbus. Which is surprising to me. I'm also sorta confused by the college admissions here (I'm used to California) so I need to educate myself on the education process. LOL
Oh, I love college classes. Dude. Now you have me thinking about enrolling.I thought abotu starting Nanowrimo early, but then it dawned on me--you CAN'T! It has to be November only in order to be official. But then I realized I could write now and then start a new novel in November. Duh, Amanda!
And, they suggest outlining and prewriting for your novel before November. I'm glad I have a month to do that.
I've started outlining and worldbuilding. I love the rush of NaNo. My DH just rolls his eyes and brings me food. :)
I think COL killed the site. I went to investigate and cant find a link to anything other than their store.
I'm with you Tera, I tried both NaNo sites and theyre both down... darn, I wanted to read about it. Maybe tomorrow
I love that book--it is a great writing resource. Have you ever read, The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher CreativityIn this great book, she talks of "Morning Pages" getting up each day and basically empting out the contents of your head into a journal to help with creativity.
Amanda I have done it before. I only got to about 30,000 before something in my family imploded and I was camping the hospital and on the road with no time to write for the last 2 weeks of the month but I'm hoping it will be calmer this year. There is also a group that does the same thing in July.
