I thought I'd start a thread for people who want suggestions/help in looking for a certain book for a challenge.

I need a time-travel book for a challenge. Something other than Karen Marie Moning and Lynn Kurland. I've also read Shades of Twilight/Son of the Morning. I would like something with a little romance in it. (Duh!)
I really haven't read that many but I loved A Knight in Shining Armor (Montgomery #16). Some ppl didn't though. Are you looking for them going back in time or coming forward in time?
Tess Mallory and Melissa Mayhue have a few. They were good. Not great IMO, though. Johanna Lindsey has Until Forever that I read but it was just okay for me. Jude Deveraux has Legend that was also just okay for me.
Thanks, Pamela. I'm not in the mood for a re-read of AKiSA. I know I read
a while ago, but I can't remember it, LOL! I'll check out the other authors and books.

. It was really different from anything that I normally read.
Do you like classic (old) sci-fi? There's Robert Heinlein's
. The time travel is in the latter part of the book. The protagonist travels from the far future to WWI. Lots of adventure, sex, romance, and a pretty convoluted plot.
Thanks, Megan. That one looks pretty good. I'll need to check my library. Thanks again, everyone for the helpful suggestions! :) I almost bought Lynn Kurland's latest
today (well, yesterday, since it is ater MN)... but then I remembered I needed to pay the mortage. :)
It is! I only thought it might be best to keep the roof over my head so that the books I currently own would stay dry, come winter. :)
Lisa Kay, if you're still looking for a time travel romance, I saw on today's Pixel of Ink email that Amazon has a freebie :
by Jeanette Baker
Thanks, CaroB. I'm having trouble with my Kindle for PC. I need to call Amazon and get them to trouble shoot it. I thought I had it fixed, but nope.
go to PixelofinkDOTcom. they also have a link to freebies and bargain books for the Nook and the Kindle
Thanks for all the help with the time travel books, ladies. Now I'm looking for books for a sub-genre category - mystery! Here is the definition:Crime Thriller: Suspense in the crime story comes from wondering whether the plan will work. We sometimes find ourselves rooting for the bad guys because they are smart, organized, and daring. The ride will be a bumpy one.

I'm sorry I can't think of any at the moment, but I'm looking forward to seeing what others recommend.

So time-travel crime thrillers Lisa Kay?? Or just Crime thrillers? Think I may be getting a bit mixed up.
If it's just Crime Thrillers you're after Lisa Kay, there's one I just got sent a message about called Case Histories. It's on bookswap from a woman called Sally Pierce.
No, CaroB, I don't mean a blend of time-travel and Crime Thrillers. I'm looking more for something similar to a heist or maybe even a political assassination. Something where we read the bad guys precision planning.
I'm looking for a historical/antebellum for a challenge. Any suggestions? Lisa Kay I know you are a fan of Kleypas who is mainly a historical writer does she have anything from the antebellum era?
Tracey,
is considered "antebellum". It is set in Natchez, Louisiana, 1805. Kleypas wrote it in 1992. Not her best work, IMHO, but it is interesting to see the development (by leaps and bounds) of this writer through the years. Not everyone improves this much. I believe she recently when back and changed a few things, but still...
Here on GoodReads? I don't know of one. This is a nice one b/c you can quickly click on the letter you are looking up: Internet Acronyms DictionaryIMHO - I meant as "In My Humble Opinion." However, looking at this website, I notice that it can also mean "In My Honest Opinion". Interesting, as it definitely has a slightly different tone.

IMO, I'd rather leave the H out :-)
Oh that's too funny! I thought IMHO was some sort of description for the type of book. LOL! I see things like SFR, etc used on this website and I'm still trying to figure them all out. :)
SFR? All I can think of are "Single Family Residence", Tracey, but here on GRs it probably means "Science Fiction Romance". If I had to guess...
LOL, yeah I figured out from the context of the rest of the posts that it did mean Science Fiction Romance... Good to know that there's not some lingo that everyone gets but me :)
I need help finding heros with beards, goatees, or mustaches. I have read some but don't want to do any re-reads for this particular challenge. I look forward to your recommendations. Thanks!
I am also looking for a book about a farmer or in which the main or important secondary character is a cook, chef, or baker.
Amanda, have you seen listopia's Best Bearded Heroes? That has a pretty good list. Also, you are welcome to look at my bookshelf entitled: vocation-chef.
Off hand, for farm (and some of my favs), I can think of:
This isn't for a challenge; I just want to read some Gothic Romance. (If there is a more appropriate thread, please let me know.) I've been searching GR and Amazon and I've found a few books that sound interesting. I know PNR and Gothic Romance genres tend to overlap a bit but I'm looking for something... different. I'm not looking for a YA book; really looking for an adult or new adult book, definitely romance, maybe with some 18+ situations.
Hmmmm...going to have to think on this one, Michelle. All I know of are old ones, like, by Victoria Holt. :o)
I read a few VH novels back in high school. Classics! Might reread a few of those; I think my mom still has some of them.I found Jane Godman; just read Legacy of Darkness, Jago Legacy #1. I finished it earlier today (it's a novella) and it was just what I was looking for. Dark, mysterious, brooding, etc. Some steamy scenes (not too graphic IMO). I'm looking forward to reading the next book. Someone else recommended Amanda Quick; will give her books a try, too.
