This "author" needs help
Yikes, and it's got 490 books. I checked out one, and that "author" data actually came from Amazon. That's just bad.
Yeah, the Schultz ones shouldn't have any co-authors, but Seth appears to be a real graphic novel author. (Also Jason, from the same publisher. It must be a trend.)
"Seth" is the pen name of a graphic novelist, yup. And I think he edited a Schultz collection at some point...?
Looks like the weird "authors" on the Schultz books came from our friends at Amazon, and were editors and writers of forewords.
Seth is a graphic novelist who also does some amazing book design, including the Peanuts collections (which is probably how he got listed on them). He may also be listed on the Dennis the Menace books (I haven't checked, but I think he designed those, too).I don't know if the ones with Jane Roberts are really him--I'm inclined to think no, but I'm doped up on DayQuil right now so I'll sort it out later.
A book's editor or designer doesn't rank the same as an author, though, unless the book is an anthology or something similar, does it? Or the writer of a foreword?
Exactly. Which is why I removed them.
I took care of the Portman and Field items; I need a link for the Ryder one, please.

Ok, took care of removing the actors-as-authors on the box set (which actually contains a book as well as the videos, so I left the primary author) and I'm working on the M's.
Christina is gone, and I fixed Serena Proes (wow, that has to be a pen name!)
I'll have to see if I can find that calendar . . .

I think so, according to this page:http://www.karoon.com/detail.lasso?pi...
it is.
There is another similar entry here:

I was going to do some merging, combining and deleting, but GR is being super slow for me tonight for whatever reason and I gave up. Hopefully someone else will be able to sort it out.
Can someone sort out William Chambers? http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
The Scottish publisher (1800-1883) is probably responsible for most of them, but surely not for _The Redemption Factor_ or _Hallucinations in Children_.
Thanks!
Cera - all the books have the correct authors. The Redemption Factor was written by the William Chambers who served two terms as Executive Vice President of the Mystery Writers of America. The William Chambers who co-authored Hallucinations in Children, among other books on childhood psychology, with Daniel Pilowsky wasn't born until 1945. The remainder of the books were authored or edited by William and/or his brother Robert Chambers who lived in the 19th century. Perhaps a librarian more experienced than me (just about every other librarian) might want to make some changes to the authors' profiles.
I separated them into unique profiles.Edit: I should point out that Robert Chambers needs some work since he is clearly multiple people.
Sherri, I got the last one. I'll work on the Georges; other librarians feel free to do so too.Edit: I got the Georges.
Petra & MichaelSorry, I must have posted in the wrong place -- I did think the author names were correct, just that they needed separation into different profiles, as Michael has since done. Michael, did you do this by adding spaces for disambiguation (which I can do myself in future) or is there some other strategy?
Thanks,
Cera
I just added spaces and put a little info into the profile description, when I could. I haven't done Robert Chambers yet.
Someone changed the name: 'Gabriel García Márquez' to 'Gabriel Garcia Marquez'. Do you agree with this?Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The agreement was to agree :)) with the Library of Congress, so I changed the name back to "Gabriel García Márquez"By the way, Shadi, is this One Hundred Years of Solitude?
It's the same person who undid it when I put it in with the accents. Maybe a message to her is in order?
It's the same person who undid it when I put it in with the accents. Maybe a message to her is in order? Rivka, considering that the person has changed the name at least 4 times to take out the accents, probably! Either that or you guys will be going back and forth forever!
vitalinew, it is "One Hundred Years of Solitude". There are more than 5 editions added with this cover!!! I don't know why they don't search first!!!! I'm sorry anyway!
vitalinew, Please don't edit http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18... so that I can notify the person who added this about his mistake.
i hope this is the right place to post this but...it seems these two authors are the same person. i dont know how to fix it.

Animeactress, this is a fine place for it! I've combined the two authors (and Phillip Kerr too), although I can't combine the editions until a bug gets fixed.
A new GR author has asked for help.http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
He says: All of the books by Michael Rosen (from the UK), who has no "J." in his publishing name, are listed here with that middle initial, thus conflating all his books with my own, published under the name "Michael J. Rosen." We both write children's books. (Additionally, I write books for adults.) There are some 75 titles with my name appropriated attributed.
Here is Michael J. Rosen's complete list of works:

Thanks in advance from Michael and from me!
Got a new one: etc.I take it the only way to fix this is to edit each of the 1,266 books? Is there an easier way?
Re: Etc, there are now 1318. Is someone making etc's as we speak? And how long does it take the system to catch up and not "find" the ones I just fixed in the search?
Ubit, A lot of those etc. authors have already been changed to the actual author(s) I have noticed. Many do still need to be corrected. I think usually once all these mass "authors" are noted in this group, that multiple librarians work on the edits.Edit: Ubik, It sometimes takes a while, but don't worry about it: when people search for those books the corrected author will show.
Well a lot of them were etc. AND another author. Right now Im only going through the ones that have at least one other author. Then hopefully the only ones that show up under etc. are ones that are solely "written by" etc. and then I can go and find the actual authors. Im through about 80 deletions so far (Im also fixing some random stuff that catches my eye in between)
Thats a cool name! He is quite the prolific author. Well, Im still working on Mr. Etc., so I probably wont be getting to Mr. Al anytime soon...
et al has been on the "work on" list for a while. The problem is that it keeps getting new additions, just like etc. (which I'll add to the list).
