Both Lyra and Pan Ii had hpoes for her dear Dad but that crashed and burned.
I've only read Northern Lights so I don't know everything yet.

I always found Asriel to be a really fascinating character. His obvious authority over everyone, his intelligence...

Don't get me wrong when I said crash and burn I ment I wished he turned out a good guy,I mean he is good but is doing wrong things that he thought was right, you know what I mean,right?He is facinating and complex, I have to agree to that and I really like his daemon as a snow leopard.

Yeah I know where you're coming from, your opinion totally makes sense. You should really read the next two books though! :)

i haven't read the books in awhile

So difficult to choose because there are so many great characters, but I'd have to say Serafina Pekkala and Lee Scoresby are two of my favourites. The parts they play in the overall story just tie in so well with the rest of it. I especially love the part when Lyra and Will meet Lee in the world of the dead and he then dissolves into the atmosphere when the dead are freed.

Rachel, I agree with what you said about Lee Scoresby and Serafina Pekkala. They were great characters.

Ah ok, phew! Sorry about that, I felt really bad when I read back over your posts and realised you'd only read the first book...If it makes you feel any better, I studied Northern Lights for uni and my lecturer basically gave away the ending of The Amber Spyglass before I'd read it which was kind of annoying. But I still really enjoyed the series anyway. Hope you like them :)
