Okay. So I have a lot of thoughts about this book. I didn't like it as much as THG and CF. For one, the begging of the book was very drawn out. The reader only collects a bit of information from the first 100 pages. And then near the end it was death, death, death. Shouldn't there be middle? The deaths seemed...to sudden and quick for me to process. I know this IS war, but I think the characters needed perhaps a few seconds more? Speaking of deaths, I think Finnick's death was unnecessary. I suppose the reason was to show that your friends can die in war too, but wasn't Boggs and the other crew memembers enough? Didn't Finnick deserve his "happy ending"?
Next, I didn't like all of the meaningless kisses shared betwen Gale and Katniss. It was sorta like this "Oh Gale, you are in pain? I'll just kiss you so we can keep up this love triangle Suzanne Collins wants us to have." They weren't needed. I also didn't like how Gale was just suddenly out of Katniss's life and it seemed she no longer cared. What happen to that wonderful friendship between them?
Also, Katniss gave up on Peeta when he was hijacked. She had spent most of her time sick with worry and what not and now that he's been hijacked she just gives up on him!? I hate Peeta's hijacking. I believe it was necessary, but that didn't make me like it anymore. What happen to the kind, innocent, forever loving Katniss, steady Peeta? I also believe Prim's death was necessary, but did that make me like it more? No.
At the end, there was no talk of how the district were or anything like that. There was no imformation on all of the other characters. It seemed as though all she cared about was getting by. I did NOT like the epilogue. Katniss seemed so much more despressed. I know you can't blame her, but I didn't think she tried hard enough to be happy.
So all in all, a good book. Did I like everything? No. But this will remain one of the most tear-jerking stories to me :((less)[edit]

A happily ever after would have left me to abandon the series forever.

I loved the ending! It was bittersweet, which was the absolute perfect ending for this series...

I liked the ending even if it was rather bleak.

YEAH!!! GIVE US MORE INFO PEOPLE!!!!
YEAH!!! GIVE US MORE INFO PEOPLE!!!!
I think the last sentence left me stunned.
"But there are much worse games to play."
I was just thinking "My life is changed. I won't be able to read books anymore because none can compare to the Hunger Games" I loved that Katniss finnaly had the courage to have children even through her fears. That Peeta loved her so much to help her through anything and everything. I miss Rue, Prim, and Finnick. I think Gale was maybe hurt in a way that can't be explained by Katniss choosing Peeta, but he needed to be there for her, not off making bombs with the people that murdered Prim. But I loved the books and the ending was just as good as every other part.
I love you, Peeta<3
*Salutes Rue*
*Ties a fishing knot*
*Thinks of Prim fondly*

Yes all of that!!!! Except all the Peeta stuff!
Not you. Not Rachael, either. I just couldn't think of anything to say. "..." is like my shorter version of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

WHAT ABOUT GALE! SHE WAS HIS LOVE! WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE PEETA??? HIS NAME SOUNDS LIKE BREAD AND I WANT HIS HEAD!
((no offense to any peeat lovers, but this is my opinion!))

Exactly! It annoys me.
Why was he never the boy on fire is the fifth or sixth question I would ask Mrs. Collins.

Gale never gets in the way. Please don't EVER say that again. Peeta is pita, I agree.

For a second I thought you were talking about the Capitol.
