16. Malaya - A Town Like Alice by Nevil Shute - finished 03/08/11, 3*

18. China - The Art of War: The Definitive Interpretation of Sun Tzu's Classic Book of Strategy by Sun Tzu - finished 25/08/11, 3*

That's the best time for obscure conversations I find, I've been on many a night survey which has led to many a random conversation :-)

22. Ukraine - The World Without Us by Alan Weisman - finished 01/10/11, 5*

24. Mongolia - Siberia by Nikolai Maslov - finished 11/10/11, 5*

It was quite a good read and was well written with plenty going on although it did take a little while to get into and it does raise a lot of moral and ethical questions. It's definitely a book that makes you think.

28. Italy - A Room With a View by E.M. Forster - finished 10/12/11, 3*

Says a lot about my state of mind really doesn't it, I'm now reading The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements, which has some interesting discussions about very powerful acids and bases...uhmmm maybe I need to speak to someone...

Luckily we never did any such classics in school, good ol' Welsh education ;-)

Ooooo ouch, think we had Welsh instead which I'm such is much easier...still didn't enjoy it much though but wish I'd paid more attention now. Although with my line of work Latin would be useful too (damn species names...)

We had to do French as well which I hated (and still kind of do I must admit). But we got to do Russian for a year as well and I loved that, it was so easy to pick up and had none of the feminine/masculine variations that other languages have. Really wish I could've taken that forward but it clashed with other subjects I needed to do when it came to GSCE choices.

It does and yes it is a form of Cyrillic. I think that's why it was a bit easier to get to grips with because it was so different from English so I didn't get muddled up so much :-)

35. Scotland - The Eagle Of The Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff - finished 24/12/11
36. Sierra Leone - Diamonds Are Forever by Ian Fleming - finished 20/12/12
Sorry Sam, you can't have the UK - no 36 - as well as the constituent countries of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland......thought it was just a brainstorm and you meant Wales but you've already done Wales, so it's just not to be.
