How many stars did you give it? i gave it 3 nt as good as the first 2 for the full details on why I gave it such a rating see my review.
erm i think i gave it 5 stars...i realllly liked it but now you mention it,some of it is filler...hmmm but i think most of it was important to the plot
Ugh! You guys have already read it?! I am sooo jealous! I've had it on hold at my local library since months before it came out, and I'm still only hold # 15.
There were three parts that surprised me. the one when eragon finds the skymetal from the menoa tree and persuades rhunon to make a sword. the second was that eragon was brom's son it was absolutely random but it made sense that eragon's dragon chose the same name saphira. the third part was when saphira and eragon realize that helgrind does not have a solid outer wall. it is just a spell from galbatroix.
There were some good parts but ultimately this book let me down. I mean the re-match between Eragon and Murtagh was so weak. And the build up to the death was dumb, I saw it coming a mile away. I liked Eragon, really liked Eldest but Brisingr didn't do it for me to much. I gotta say I like Roran much more than I like Eragon. Eragon has one little fight then disappears the rest of the book (happended in Eldest too) and Roran is left to fight with no dragon and still kicks but. Seriously his chapters are what made Eldest great, and they helped Brisingr. But did it really need 700 pages for the events that happened? The two perks of the book for me were the Ra Zac chapters and Roran's chapters but Eragon was an idiot in this book. I hate the way the Dragon's think. They're these super magical and wise beings but they can't call humans humans and elfs elfs they have to call them by the shape of their ears? What? And there's only one book left and we still haven't met the freaking villian! He's gonna meet the guy and kick his but in one swoop, so I guess book 4 should be good but book 3 was just to fatten Paolini's wallet.
i actually liked this book a lot. at some times it dragged me along, but the rest was pretty quick. of course it was as good as the first in a variety of ways, but that's how books in a series go.
i don't like roran still. in eldest, i wasn't a big fan of him either. he's a bit spontaneous with the ... for lack of another word, dumb decisions.
and one other thing.
i really want brisingr (not the book) :D
ok sorry i didn't know if u were my cousin naomi or not cause she really likes this book and i think she has goodreads
I loved brisingir adn the part with the aword was one of my favorite parts and i didn't rlly like the dwarf part but i thought it was nessicary(sp) for the book.
mine too i absolutly lovvved the sword partt! i'm really sad Murtaugh is still evil! he's my favorite character! and he just keeps getting worse!!
Murtaugh isn't evil, he is being controlled by the king. I don't think we can consider him evi, not when his free will has been taken away from him. He is a victim more than anything.
no, he didnt have a choice, Eragon gave him what he thought to be a choice, but it wasn't much of a choice. Thats like saying if an armed gunman enters a store and holds the barrel against the tellers head, she has the the choice to refuse his demands. Sure, she has a choice as long as she doesn't value her life. Same with Murtaugh. We seen how Galbatorix can project himself into Murtaugh's thoughts and speak through him, that doesn' give Murtaugh much room to free himself. And I think you need to understand the depth Murtaugh's despair and helplessness to understand his sneer and his demeanor. It easy to misjudge him, its harder to understand him. I think by the end of the series Murtaugh will find the strength to break his chains, but either way it'll make for a good story lol ;)
i think Murtaugh isn't totally evil yet but he's getting there, because he wasn't even willing to try to defy stupid Galbatoix and he was even talking about how great it's going to be when Galbatroix achieves his goals or something. like he was agreeing w/ him a little bit.
yeah i agree with lauren as murthag said it himself . saying that galbatroix's vision to unite the riders was a great one and how awesome it was.
Oh yes, and back on the brightsteel/skymetal for a moment: I thought that was kind of weak, and excuse for paolini to escape figuring out something else to do with it. He didn't desparately need it at that time. I would've thought that he was in battle or something when he found something. Not just ore.
my favorite part was the part in ellesmera. it was pretty awesome. and i loved the sword part. some people hate that part but i loved it.
Timothy wrote: "no, he didnt have a choice, Eragon gave him what he thought to be a choice, but it wasn't much of a choice. Roran probably kept me reading in Eldest and I always looked forward to read about him in Brisingr
Eldest was the worst book so far it was so slow with Eragon getting trained. Brisingr was the best.

discuss the new one! did you like it? were things unexpected?
i think it was really good. and i didn't think they'd go to the ra'zac right away i thought they'd be more focused on getting stupid Galbatoix...
