Fionna Hi!

Originally I'm from West Cork, but have been living in Finland for almost ten years now, it's a long story. I'm new to goodreads, I like the functionality and will try to keep up my book list, normally I read a range of fiction - lot of SF and Crime but also historical and modern fiction, some non-fiction - as long as it is well written then I like it :)

My favourite current Irish authors are Ian McDonald, Tana French, Peadar O' Guilin and Michael Carroll. Probably more that I'm not able to think of right now!

I think we have the best playwrights in the world: Samuel Beckett, Sean O'Casey, Brendan Behan, Anne Devlin, Oliver Goldsmith, Oscar Wilde, Enda Walsh - I love Irish theatre and it's in my top five things I miss from home (Barry's Tea and Taytos and the craic and singsongs the other four in that list).

Other things about me: I like dogs, I like acting, I like computers. I dislike bigotry and begrudgery and corruption and mosquitos (don't we all, though), and unquestioning acceptance of information, and sunburn.

Welcome to GI, Fionna.

I've never read any of the writers in your list, but plenty of our other readers in the group have mentioned those names fondly. Be sure to check out our current reads, Ireland and The Brothers' Lot. If they take your fancy we'd love you to join in the discussions.

By the way, I'm a Lyons Tea and King Crisps man.

Love the term begrudgery. I've been searching for a word like this. Thanks.

When I was in Ireland, I really noticed the variety of crisps (we say chips). Some quite scary but always intriguing.
