Anyone else out there reading AND enjoying Jim Butcher's Ghost Story? It's taking a better direction than I thought it could possibly wrangle and am as pleased with this book as I was the last. Anyone else's feedback?

I've been a Dresden Files fan since Storm Front. Unlike most series, they just keep getting better.
Was a little bit darker than previous books though. The books seem to be getting more gritty as they go along. I.e. Molly turning dark side, Murphy's guilt, etc.
This book seemed like sort of a filler book to me. A bridge between the awesome Changes and what comes next in the series.
That said, the part where they revealed who killed Harry made my jaw drop XD

I have to say that I was unexpectedly surprised by alot of things that happened in Ghost Story. Molly's and Murphy's guilt for starters along with Molly's sorta return to the dark side. I liked that Mortimer Linquist and Butters roles were really expanded in new and amazing directions. The Fomor becoming the new big bad guys in the series. Harry's role as the new Winter Knight. I'm excited to see what direction Butcher takes us next in the series.
Absolutely LOVED this book!!! It totally blew my mind!!! This book wasn't about the normal running about, kicking down doors, and smashing in faces (or burning down LOTS of buildings, lol). It was more about Harry and his coming to terms with the darkness that has been growing in him over the years. It wasn't really a "filler" in my mind because it was necessary in order for the Harry we've come to know and love to come back better than ever without all of the nasty and sad insecurities he's been having to deal with. He's coming to terms with who he is and that will only make him stronger and more BA than before. I can't wait to see where Butcher takes the series next... it is BY FAR one of my favorite series of all time! :D
it's been awhile since I've read this, but with the next one coming out soon, it's all coming back to me. Out of all the series, this was my least favorite. In fact, I didn't like it at all. I hated where he took Murphy and Molly, and was very dissapointed not to have Thomas. I guess I just like burning down buildings. And I really missed more of Mouse.
I love the series and this was not my favorite in the series, but I didn't hate it.
I also missed Thomas who is one of my favorite secondary characters.
I did think it had an interesting mystery to solve and I found Harry trying to solve things without the use of his wizard's magic was an interesting twist.

I liked this one a lot. It was interesting to see Harry actually think things out because he couldn't do squat in the mortal world. It made me take a different view of Harry. I also liked it because Harry made a bad decision and had to deal with the repercussions of it. Usually, characters make mistakes, but don't sell their souls or create a vacuum of power that causes chaos in the world. It really shows exactly how powerful and driven Harry is.
Let's not for get that Harry's story has always been a story about the struggle for redemption. I think what has happened with the secondary characters is a setup for what will come next and it has some very interesting possibilities. For one Harry will have to take a much more hands on approach with Molly. He's free of Mab and has an even better understanding of magic in it's various forms than he started with. Very much looking forward to Cold Days to be released on November 27th.
I loved the solid resolution of this book connecting to the past. I was wondering how the heck Jim Butcher was going to get him out of this situation because if he continued forever as a ghost it wouldn't be much fun. I was really pleased and impressed with the end. It was also lots of fun to see everything from the view of other characters. I had to go back and re-read the whole book after I read the end! Looking forward to "Cold Days"!!!

Amazing. He is great at creating satisfying plots. Let's hope he does not disappoint in the next one!

I really liked it! I finished with it quickly although there was a brief moment somewhere in the middle where I wanted Harry to quit flailing around and accomplish something already! I really liked the sequence in Molly's head!
