Mike P originally became a part of Psychopathic Records when he was hired to build the new Lotus Pod studio at the Psychopathic offices. Over many months of tweaking everything for them, ICP became impressed with his skills and put him to the test producing a couple of songs that ended up being released on The Pendulum and Forgotten Freshness Vol. 3. Impressed with his work and having disagreements with Mike E. Clark, ICP brought Mike P aboard as a full time producer for the label.
It was around this time also that Violent J had visions of a rock group on Psychopathic. To make a long story short, that rock group would become known as Zug Izland and Mike P became the guitarist for the band. On top of handling production duties for most of the label, Mike P toured the nation with Zug Izland, releasing albums and doin’ shows.
His production credits on Psychopathic have grown over the last couple of years, with no album on the list that the 6th Joker’s Card itself, ICP’s The Wraith.
In 2004, Zug Izland and Psychopathic Records parted ways. It is unknown at this time whether the departure will impact Mike P’s work with Psychopathic, so I guess only time will tell.
