Obviously we are all Susan Mallery fans here (and if your not yet, just read one of her books and you will be!) but we all need something to read in between her books.

♥So share with everyone your favorite Contemporary Authors/Books/Series! ♥While your at it tell everyone what got you started reading Contemporary Romance, and anything else you want to share about the genre☺

Hannah | 468 comments Fave author is Julie James. I love her! If you haven't read her, you MUST! She is so good!

My fave book by her Something About You. Practice Makes Perfect is really good too. I really liked A Lot Like Love too. I don't think she's written a bad book yet. So, so, so good!

message 3: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie I don't like everything by Jennifer Crusie, but this is one she got right. I love this book. It makes me laugh no matter how many times I read, and I always have a big goofy grin when I'm done with it.

message 4: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Jennifer Crusie is so hard for me to get into. I have tried reading Welcome To Temptation many times but just could never get into it. She seems to be an acquired taste.

message 5: by Kelly Lynn (new)

Kelly Lynn (lemonpink418) | 189 comments Jennifer Cruise is hit or miss with me too, but I adored Bet Me. Also liked The Cinderella Deal (Loveswept) by Jennifer Crusie .

I'm a huge Kristan Higgans fan. Just read my first Julie James a couple months ago and loved it.

Adore the Chicago Stars series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, the New York Blades by Deidre Martin and Chinooks by Rachel Gibson.

Marie Force has a couple good series that I enjoy.

And I'll also add Sherryl Woods Sweet Magnolias series as well as Toni Blake's Sugar Creek.

I tend to get into contemporary romance series because I hate saying goodbye to fabulous characters or places!

I actually kind of liked Welcome to Temptation. It's not one I would re-read very often, though.

I adore all things Kristan Higgins. I can't pick a favorite...they're all great. I like Katie MacAlister, too, but only in small doses. I usually save her for when I need a quick laugh/feel good book.

message 7: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Woo-hoo! Another Julie James fan! YAY! LOVE her! Which book did you read, Kelly Lynn?

I haven't read Kristan Higgins. Still need to do that; my friend who loves chick lit and romance says she's too chick litty and not enough romancey.

message 8: by Kelly Lynn (new)

Kelly Lynn (lemonpink418) | 189 comments Hannah, I read A Lot Like Love, and I picked up Something About You at Borders in their closeout sale last week, but haven't gotten to read it yet.

Kristan Higgins probably is a little more chick lit than romance. Very fade to black. The stories are quirky and fun though.

message 9: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Something About You is so good! It's my favorite book! lol I love that book; I had to buy a second copy because the first was in bad shape from so many readings. LOL For me, it got a 10. lol

I'll have to try one. See if my friend can loan me one of her books. Which is the best of KH's stuff? My friend has them all.

Another friend just dropped off Crazy For You by Jennifer Crusie; she said I must read it. lol I have so many books to read now. lol

I have only read one Jennifer Crusie book- Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie and I really enjoyed it! It took awhile to totally get into it, but it was very cute☺

I adore Kristan Higgins, but not every book by her (and I can never keep the titles straight!lol) Rin (some of you know her from the RIME group) went to a book signing a while back and got me a signed copy of My One and Only by Kristan Higgins (I was so excited when it came in the mail!) and I think it might actually be one of my favorites!

Have yet to read Julie James, but keep hearing good things about her....

Kelly-Lynn mentioned Marie Force, and I just read Everyone Loves a Hero by Marie Force and loved it! It was my first book from her, but I will def. be reading more:D

Hannah | 468 comments Starr Ambrose is another pretty good author. I absolutely loved Lie to Me by Starr Ambrose .

Another of my favorite authors is Barbara Freethy; she wrote one of my all time favorite romance books ever. Just the Way You Are by Barbara Freethy is just really good. I rooted for Allie to get what she wanted and deserved. Loved her!

Hannah, I loved Allie too! I was really happy when she got her HEA!
Lie to Me by Starr Ambrose now I'm thinking of moving this up on my tbr list lol..

message 15: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Lie to Me is fabulous Cindy! The romance between Jack and Ellie is great. Loved them! lol

Allie was such an awesome heroine! I almost wanted her to end up alone at the end because I thought she was too good for the hero but I was won over in the end. I just wanted her happy! :)

message 16: by Shellbelle (new)

 Shellbelle | 1168 comments Mod
I haven't heard of these authors...but that just means I'm going to have to add them to my TBR!lol

message 20: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Yay! I'm so glad you loved it! Jack and Cameron rocked!

She is pretty high up in the huge TBR mountain...Hannah has been telling me to read her for awhile, maybe I'll add her to a challenge☺

message 22: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Yes, I have, Shell!! I have pimped her to you on a few different boards(or whatever) here on GR! LOL

Hannah wrote: "Yes, I have, Shell!! I have pimped her to you on a few different boards(or whatever) here on GR! LOL"

Hahaha! Well it sank in, i'm going to add her to my challenges coming up. Can you suggest one for the Hero and Heroine challenges (same book, just where the heroine and hero would fit in) I think I already have Something About You by Julie James Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James in ebook.

message 24: by Hannah (last edited Aug 18, 2011 07:13PM) (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Um, I think Something About You is more Brooding Hero or Protector(he's a Fed); heroine is brainiac(she's an assistant US attorney) and rich girl and Practice Makes Perfect is definitely Alpha or Bad Boy/briainic for heroine(she's a lawyer) IMO.

message 25: by Shellbelle (new)

 Shellbelle | 1168 comments Mod
Perfect! Thanks☺

message 26: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments YW. Hopefully, you like the books!

message 27: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James Think I may read this tonight. I started the 2nd Tairen Soul book, but it's making me have violent thoughts. lol Some of the characters are a little too well written. (Good story though...even if he's a big freakin flying cat man).

message 28: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Just to warn you, Jennifer, there is NO SEX at all in that book. I liked The Sexiest Man in The World but the lack of sex really kinda hurt the book IMO but I think you can see how far Julie James has come as an author though in just a few short years!

message 29: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) I'm okay with no sex in it. It's a little refreshing to be honest.

message 30: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments Okay, good. I mean it isn't bad or anything; it's actually a pretty good book and very funny. :-)

message 31: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis - My new favorites. Could I please be Mrs. Jax Cullen?

@ Shell- I tried reading Get A Clue by Jill Shalvis but couldn't get into it. I guess I'm gonna have to give it another try:)

message 34: by Hannah (new)

Hannah | 468 comments I loved Simply Irresistible and I'm halfway through The Sweetest Thing. I'm gonna give Animal Attraction a go next. I hated Get A Clue. Not sure why but it did next to nothing for me. :/

I can not wait for Silver Sparks by Starr Ambrose, which is out on Tuesday!!!!!

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Loved the Robin Kaye series. Romeo from book 1 is the perfect man. He vacuums and cleans!!!! lol

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I knew you would absolutely love it. In another group I'm in we decided to use literary characters as our avvys. So I used C.T. as Curran.

message 42: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Mmm. He's pretty. Beckham is my Curran, though. (and Callum Blue is my Bones)

Bleh. You do realize I'm gonna have to go re-read the KD series now. I miss my Curran. lol
