P. D. James is one of my favorites but I haven't read this one. Can't wait! Who else can join in even though I'm a wee bit late it starting the thread??!?!?! The more, the merrier...

Finished this earlier in the week and enjoyed it. James only wrote two books featuring Cordelia Gray. I look forward to reading the second one.
I'm new to the group and haven't read the book yet, but wanted to let people know the P.D. James also wrote a nonfiction book about detective fiction called "Talking About Detective Fiction".
Thanks for the reminder about "Talking About Detective Fiction." I've been meaning to read it for ages. By the way, P.D. James answers some questions about writing mysteries on her official website at RandomHouse.com.
I started the book last evening when I couldn't sleep. I'm already half way through it. I love Cordelia. She's such a great character. I haven't read PD James before, although have several of her books in my TBR pile. It was great to have a reason to start one. I'm reading the Death of Ivan Illych in another group which also starts off with a death. I found that pretty amazing. I also think there is a Rhys Bowen book that has similar characters with a woman taking over a detective business.
I didn't figure out until halfway through the book that is was also the author of The Children of Men. I found that interesting, given how much I enjoyed that.

While it was an ok movie by itself, I felt it almost completely removed the central issues of the book in order to be socially/politically current.

I think I'm caught up on group reads for my Yahoo groups. I'll have to see about finding it this evening. My bookcases are still a shambles...but getting better bit by bit.
This was the first P.D. James I ever read. Finished last night. Really loved it. Won't say anything more as don't want to spoil it for anybody.
