I keep coming across quotes which are actually song lyrics. I know these aren't supposed to be added to GR, but what I think is a grey area is that in a lot of cases the bands have "author" pages where they are credited with books of sheet music or whatever. These probably do contain lyrics in many cases, so I am hesitant to delete the lyrics from the quotes database because I guess a justification could be made for them. I don't know what the official policy is in cases like this. To delete or not?

Personally, I'd delete those if they are not directly from a book. But as you say, they're credited with books of sheet music it adds to a little rethinking.. I'd say post some links of those quotes... Lets have a look :)

The one I stumbled across yesterday was Coldplay. They have a number of songbooks and sheet music listed, and then their quotes page is here: http://www.goodreads.com/author/quote...

Since these lyrics are probably contained in their songbooks, I can see the argument for calling them "quotes", but I do feel a bit as if it's taking away from what the quotes section is to be about. I'm not touching them now, but I'd like to get a clear answer as to policy.

I'm sure there are tons more, so it would be great to know if these are legit to leave or if they're clogging up the system like movie and tv quotes.

I would delete all of those (except that some of the Lavigne quotes actually ARE quotes, not lyrics).

Among other issues, the person writing the lyrics and signing them is often not the same.

Yeah, I meant just the lyric ones. I'll delete lyrics from now on now that I know it's okay.
