I will start...
The Shadow Girl of Birch Grove by Marta Acosta
I was really excited to read this book. It sounded exactly like the type of book I enjoy. I couldn't stand it. The characters were flat, the plot was WAY too slow, and I couldn't relate to any of the characters. It was the type of book that I WANTED to put down! Plus, I kept getting that irritated/antsy feeling. My husband complained that I continuously sighed in boredom. It was distracting him from his game. lol

What about formatting issues? I've downloaded a few ebooks where the formatting was way off words cutting off at the end of a line or a chapter starting all the way down on the page. That's been my biggest issue, I don't think I' ve read enough e-books yet to give a careful criticism of them.
M, it has been my experience that the formatting issue is a matter of the author being self-published and not knowing/caring enough to check the content after they upload it. Definitely an issue for some self-pubbers! I haven't seen that happening with professionally published (big house, or indie) e-books.
For me, the worst one I read recently was Tales of a Sinner by Steve O'Brien. It is supposed to be non-fiction, but he covers so much heavy crap that supposedly happened to him in his youth, without ever talking about any of the good things. The whole time I kept thinking "This can't be real, it is almost too fantastical!) The story didn't flow nicely. In an autobiography it typically starts at the beginning and ends in modern time, but he bounces around quite a bit. I must admit, I didn't even finish it (I can only say that about maybe 10 books in my life) because I just felt no building point to the story. It just felt like "Look, this is all the bad crap that happened in my life...." I didn't want to wait for the conclusion.

1. Bad Editing (obviously there will be some typos, etc. BUT I'm talking about the books with mistakes constantly)
2. Bad Plot
3. Writing Itself
4. Copied Another Book
5. Too Slow
This is a thread for you to list the ebooks you thought were truly horrible. List the title, author, and why you think it deserves to be on this list! :)
