Urban Fantasy discussion

I just finished reading The Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance and discovered a whole lot of pretty good PNR authors I never knew about. Almost too many, so could someone suggest to me, choosing from this list, what would be a good read and by who? I prefer Urban Fantasy series over individual titles and pure fantasy. Thanks.

It is hard to pick from those listed here. I have read most of them and really like them. I would say start out with the authors who's stories you really like and go from there.

My favorites from that list are Meljean Brook and Jeaniene Frost. Jeaniene Frost writes Urban Fantasy novels with a side of vampires while Meljean Brook writes Steampunk novels with a side of zombies.

I would highly recommend Allyson James. Her Stromwalker series blends western and American Indian mythology.

Cheyenne McCray's Night Tracker has a new take on dark elves, and has lots of other fey creatures.

The Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews is another great series. Kate Daniels is more ruthless than most female protagonists, which makes her one of the most intersting UF characters imo.
