Skulduggery Pleasant discussion

I added this topic to get people talking about the characters of the book series.

My favorite character would have to be Skulduggery, but after he was tortured and fades in and out of reality he might not be anymore.

I'm a big fan of Valkyrie. She reminds me of myself quite a bit and she's actually one of the main reasons I loved the first one so much and kept reading the series.

She would have to be my second favorite because she took the whole magic thing really well.

I love Tanith, its sad she's gone

Tanith was a great character. I am going to have to say that Derek Landy did a great job with developing the characters of the series.

Yer he did i love how he always has humour throughout it.

The humor does help make the book flow.

Rosetta your a writer? What type of stories do you write?

I write mainly fiction. My books are often filled with action and mystery and lots of awesomeness. One of them is about a young magician girl who came back to life called Abby Cadaver. You know, instead of Abra Cadabra its Abby Cadaver? Another one is about a girl who is being haunted but no one believes her so shes thrown in a mental institution. Ive got a few others too.

That's pretty cool, the stories sound interesting. I have never been able to get my ideas down on paper.

My favourite character would have to be Skulduggery Pleasant! :P

Skulduggery is awesome. There are so many layers to his character.

Skulduggery's awesome. I loved Tanith, though, too. Really sad she's gone. But ultimately I like all of the characters and how well-developed they are.

Ooh... I love them ALL! Tanith and Valkyrie have to top my list though. :)

i love them all....i think its obviously skulduggery but apart from him i would have to say my favorite character is darquesse. i love darquesse!!! shes soo cool and the fight between her and lord vile was epic. they NEED to have another fight!!!

One would be the best way to choose a favorite character but you can name all your favorites if you want

Picking one character out of the mass of awesome people D.L. has created would be really hard, so I'd probably have to go for a few.
Finbar Wrong, Clarabelle, Scapegrace, Fletcher, Tanith, to name but a few.

Those are some good characters. I still have to say Skulduggery is the best. I just can't choose another, except, maybe, Flecther.

Valkyrie and Skulduggery were the reason I loved the book to begin with. Other characters like Ghastly, Tanith and Fletcher are great.
By my adore Finbar, clarabell and Scapegrace just because they are so funny! :D

I've read the lastest book finally! and now tanith is back im happy but i dont know if i can say shes one of my favourites anymore, shes still awesome and funny and cool but not a favourite, well at least the remant her isnt...

Thanks! When it comes to favorite characters in books for me, they always tend to end up dying, this time around however, my favorite character was already dead! Anyway, my friend started reading the series out loud to me while I was supposed to be working on math (I ended up stealing the book from her and reading it three times) and close to the very beginning when Stephanie (Valkyrie) first sees Skulduggery (but has no idea who he is) in the graveyard, I interrupted my friend in the middle of her reading it out loud to me and said exactly this, "I have a feeling I'm going to like this overcoat guy." That proved to be true. :)

That's a great story. I am so jealous of everyone who has got to reread any of the books.

Omg I haven't yet read wicked kingdom but I think val and fletcher should go out again :D

Oh my god - Val was awful to Fletcher! She played his heart like a violin and then broke all the strings.

But Fletcher got those strings fixed, thanks to his new girl. :)

i know she was so mean lol. but i still want her to find someone that works for her, otherwise she'll end up being an idiot and somehow getting Fletcher or someone else like him and play them again. i miss Caelan, well not really but he was funny in a creepy way!

I liked fletch and val but I'm glad Derek moved the story on and Fletcher deserved to be happy, he's too tame for Val, so shed just end up getting bored and breaking his heart AGAIN!

I don't think she should end up with a boyfriend in the series. I think the series is just fine with her and Skulduggery, the sort of dad daughter chemistry.

Yeah, I like that father daughter relationship they have. :)

Mmm, I have to agree with Daniel: I don't think Val will end up with a boyfriend either. I just don't see it happening.

Yeah, I agree I think Val might have a kiss/fling or something but long term relationship doesn't seem very like her!
