I am kinda sick of the "main" char usually a girl is so weak. Always needing to be rescued instead of just being able to fight. I dont mind if they are trained to fight but its like if they are always weak or needs rescuing.
I agree, but I'm equally fed up with the stereotypical masculine character. Even if the girl is somewhat of a badass, I've seen maybe two or three successful books where the male protagonist isn't the picture of the quintessential tall, dark and handsome, or some deviation similar to it. It can drive me up the wall!
I dont mind the tall dark and handsome as long as there is a good explanation for them to be. I dont mind if they are vampire or something but I dont think ALL males should be absolutely beautiful. I am so in love with a char in this one trilogy I have been reading.
What I'm saying is that the differences between most male characters have become so small, you could change their name and have the same guy in thirty different books. It's not too bad, just over used.
What really annoys me is when a guy leaves a girl or vice versa, and the girl gets SO broken up about it, it takes up HUGE portions of the book. I mean, get over it, girl! he's not worth it!!
I don't like how the guy is always so smooth, always knows what to do. It can be done right, but, like the others, is overused. I read a book a while ago where the guy fumbled all the time, like the MC did, which made it a lot more real. Of course, I didn't like the book because as soon as they got together this characteristic disappeared.
I really like books that seem really raw, truly real. I find that I get more interested when the characters portray emotions I can connect with, or when the descriptions include the real parts of the characters lives- not just the picture perfect ones.
I know we all have dreams of the perfect life but life is not perfect. I would like to read more books where they don't find true love instantly...
