Excellent, I've been meaning to re-read S&S and mid-September will be an excellent time to start. It will be a spring-time read for me, though! I will probably listen to it on audiobook, as I have one narrated by Juliet Stephenson lined up and ready to go.
great!!! it's about time i read the book i've been delaying for so long and there isn't a better chance to read my final Jane Austen book than with the group. big thanks to moderators :)
Glad to hear people are excited for this group read! I haven't re-read S & S in a while, so I'm looking forward to it too!
This will be my first re-read of S&S. I'm going to talk my friend into reading it with me because she needs to read this one at least once.
I've actually never read it and it's been on my list for so long. @Kim - I'll check out that audiobook. I listen on my drive to work and then read at home on my nook.
I don't mind joining in for the discussion. I'm so familiar with the book because I teach it. I'd like different feedback.
Looking forward to your comments Amalie!
yep it will be spring for me too, but I will be fully imagining the appropriate English weather including mist and rain. This was the second Jane Austen novel I ever read, I couldn't leave it alone for a long time, re-reading it every year but now I realise I haven't touched it for a long time and am looking forward to taking the journey again.
Persuasion is one of the reasons I haven't read S&S for so long, the other is Mansfield Park.... I read these and P&P more than any of the others, they are my faves.
I have read it and have the audio tapes which I have listened to several times. I will probably use them. I look forward to amalie's contributions coming from an academic standpoint. I often wanted to take an class on Austin but classes tend to make things manditory whereas I love reading Austin for her own sake. With my busy schedule, I will try to join in as much as I can.
Juliet Stephenson does wonderful readings of Austen novels. They're available through Audible. Definitely worth seeking out.
I second Kim's suggestion. Wonderful versions.
I can't wait to read this book with everyone. I always enjoy haering what others got out of it. I will be reading the annotated version. Does anyone else plan tp read that version as well? I love having all the additional details, makes the story even better!
I have that edition also Danielle.
Me too, Danielle and Megan. Also love Juliet Stephenson as a narrator. Thanks for organizing this. I do love that novel.
hey guys i wanted to ask , when u say 'read along' do u mean that we start reading it in mid-sept or start discussing it mid-sept, so we read it before?
I read P&P annotated and it was great. I loved learning all the details, it really helped to truly understand the story. So if anyone doesn't have the book but has a question on something in the story just ask I can tell you what the notes were for it.
Sounds good to me! I read this in 2005, so it is time for a re-read.

We will discuss the novel (probably weekly and broken down into several chapters at a time - to be determined). We will have separate threads for individual characters, themes, the movies, sequels, etc etc. We will be setting up the folder soon.
Hope you can join us!
