Romance Lovers for the Challenge-Impaired discussion

I read it quite a few years ago. It had a female main character. One of the opening scenes was her being molested/raped as a child to pay off (gambling?) debts of her father. Then I remember as an adult she revisits the place where it happened. (I think to find her mother? I'm not sure on this part. I think her mom may be dead?) I also remember she's a photographer in her adult life, and there's a love interest in there somewhere.

If you think you may have any idea at all about what book this is, let me know! I'll read anything that might be it, and I just know if I start reading it again, I'll recognize it.

I've been thinking and looking for this book again on and off for about the last 6 years.

It seems like every time I see a book cover for Nora Roberts, I think it may be by her. I don't specifically remember the cover of the book, but it seems to me it had biggish raised letter for the author's name, like hers do.

That wasn't it. I heard the recommendation from a few other people, as well, and have it right now, almost finished. While it's a good book, it's not the one I was looking for. :(

Krystyna, do you remember if it was a series romance or not (Harlequin, Silhouette, etc.)??

If it was I only read the one book. I'm pretty sure it wasn't though, because the memory of it feels like the story finished instead of leaving a cliffhanger.

It definately woldn't be Vision in White since that just came out in the last 2 years.

Someone else mentioned Danielle Steel in another group. Does anyone have suggestions as to what book of hers it may be? I didn't see anything that stood out overtly on her website.
