FYI, most of "The Edge of Paradise: America in Micronesia" (which I disliked enough that I didn't finish it) doesn't take place in the Federated States of Micronesia—there are large chunks in Palau, Guam, Saipan, the US, etc. This may be a factor for many of the books on this list, since "Micronesia" is both a region and a country within that region.
"Tales From the South Seas" by Jack London and maybe "The Rain" by Samerset Maugham, set in Samoa, if it is part of this region?
