Is anyone as obsessed by them as I am? (I have a feeling Fiona/Lady Whisp will say yes)

I don't know what it is about cook books but I just love them, I could happily buy a new one or two or three every time I passed a shop or website that sold books. I also have a subscription to delicious magazine delivered to the house every month and collect those. As I'm sure you'll guess I don't have time to make things from them as often as I'd like (who does?) so I haven't even scratched the surface of what's inside them.

My most recent purchase was The New Complete International Jewish Cookbook. I have a fascination for all things Jewish so this really appealed to me.
My favorite one for making things from at the moment is Jamie's 30-minute Meals because they really are quick and easy but delicious.
For years I've been lusting after is America - The Beautiful Cookbook which my mum has and I discovered is part of a series. The book is simply beautiful like the name suggests, full of amazing pictures, sections to read about different places in the US and the recipes are superb. All this put together in an A3 format. *horny donkey slimey*

I love cookbooks but have banned myself from buying any more as I've run out of room. I like the sound of the Jewish cookbook though, I might have to have a look at that

I got my copy on amazon for £19. It's RRP is £35 so a big saving. My mum went and bought it after looking through my copy.

I buy them and read them like novels, and make lists of the things to cook with page references (yes I like lists) I love the Book People sales for recipe books. I think I own more than my mum now which is an achievement.

I had planned to do that with my copies of delicious so I had one book to refer to and it would tell me which magazine and which page it was on. It never quite happened though. I'm off on holiday from work in a couple of weeks time. I might do it with one of my days off.

ETA, I bought another cook book today. Whoops!

What did you get? I also enjoy more sciency books about food, I really want to read Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking and I adored the science stuff in The Fat Duck Cookbook even though the book was so massive it gave me stomach cramps when I read it in bed.

I got Gifts from the Kitchen: 100 Irresistible Homemade Presents for Every Occasion. It was in The Works for £4.99 so I couldn't say no. It has some lovely ideas in it, some jams and chutneys and preserve type things. It's got turkish delight, lolly pops and other sweets. Tortellini, fortune cookies , lemoncello, herbal teas and other random lovely things.

That sounds really good. I'd love to get into making jams and chutneys, we have about 50 pears on the tree at the moment so I'm going to have a go at pear and ginger jam.

I made a really nice apple and pear chutney a couple of months ago. Maybe think about that too if you get fed up of jam.

I love vegan cookbooks and get two vegetarian magazines each month. I cut the recipes I like out of the magazines and stick them into a folder which I have organised into sections like soup, pasta, rice etc. I have slightly geeky tendencies like that!

I am being tempted by the River Cottage preserves book - someone talk me out of it please, I'm sure I can find all the recipes online so I really don't need the book.

Enabler! I also ordered the complete Jewish cookbook but got a used copy for £7.60 so i don't feel so bad.

My preserves book arrived today and I also got a red card so am thinking the Jewish cookbook wouldn't fit through the door and I will pick it up tomorrow, after which I will be making chutney with my glut of courgettes :)

Yum, are you not so glad you bought it now? The Jewish book is quite large so it probably is that. It tells you how to poach a whole salmon if you ever need to know. lol.

I am hoping it has a proper chicken soup and matzo ball recipe *lusty*

I think I will be also making a variation of the hedgerow jelly as stocking presents this year, there are so many various berries etc on my dog walking route. I am glad I bought it, I must admit

I'm so looking forward to it coming. I have their cupcake book, cookies book, veganomicon and vegan with a vengeance. I've found some vegan cookbooks in the library too and scanned the recipes I like on to the computer. I'm becoming quite obsessed with finding recipes!

I've got Vegan Pie in the Sky pre-ordered, too...since about July. I thought it was supposed to be released this month, but it must have been put back. I've seen some pictures of the recipie tests on the PPK forum, and I just can't wait for it to arrive. They all look super yummy! *impatient*

I ordered Eat Me! from the Book People yesterday (they have it for £4.99), so I'm waiting for that to arrive, too. Then I shall have cake :)

Amazon didn't have the stock to send me it so I cancelled my order. I'll have to get it another time!

It's just a lovely, quirky book that I think would be fun to sit down and read. Even if I never try the recipes.

I love cook books, especially ones which have international recipies. At the moment I'm really into Moroccan food. I also buy a lot of cake books.

Amazon have a pack of three Nigella books for £14.99 atm. You get Christmas, Kitchen, and Express. Great deal if you don't have those!
