Oh, and I can't believe I forgot...you need to check out Melvin Burgess. Especially Smack/Junk (title depends on your country), and Sara's Face. Both for mature YA. Smack is about drug addicts, Sara's Face is...hard to describe. Also, a must-must read, Go Ask Alice.

You'd probably enjoy The Bitch Posse by Martha O'Conner. It's a very adult book, so "viewer discretion is advised."Also I think you should refrain from labeling everything EMO.
