Ashley Ŷoure missing the catcher in the rye ! haha.

Selin i heard about it (being boring) is it boring???

Suge Catcher in the Rye is a classic. It's boring if the reader has a short attention span.

My favorite book is "The Fuck Up" by Arthur Nersesian. It's not exactly an emo book but the main character goes through hell in such a short amount of time. Definitely work checking out.

Selin sure!!! thanx

Sadie The Burn Journals.
Finding Alice, Go Ask Alice, Skinny, Perfect, Massive, Safe, Grief Girl...

I also heavily resent the term "emo."

Natalie Rayne I agree with Sadie. The term "emo" is very offensive and in my opinion inappropriate.

Assia Sabri I agree with Natalie just because you cut yourself dosent mean you are emo.

Sadie Furthermore, there are people far older than their teenage years who struggle with addictive self-injury. I'm one of them and I really don't appreciate the stereotype or the label.

Exactly. I do cut, but emo is a disgusting stereotype. Shame on you.

message 11: by Suge (new) - rated it 3 stars

Suge To shed light on the emo situation, it is short for emotional and is only a stereotype if you let it be. I don't mind being considered emo, I am a very emotional person. Yes, I self harm, I write poetry and spend most of my days brooding. Emo is a state of mind. Just food for thought :)

Ibreathlivelovebooks As a recovering cutter, I never really minded the term emo, becuase as Suge said, it is short for emotional, but people have let it mean a whole lot more that that. Now people think of emo as a way people dress, act, speak, and feel, and personally I dislike the term very much now. Yes, I cut myself. Yes, I'm emotinal. I write, read and cry a lot. But I'm also extremly hyperactive, I wear bright, colorful clothes, I'm involved in school, get good grades, have happy, wholesome dorky friends (who are awesome by the way) and when people who have just met me see my scars they go "whoa... I would never picture you as the type to cut..." and thats because there isn't a specific 'type' who cuts themselves. That's just ignorant.
At the same time, I feel you should be allowed to refer to yourself as you wish, just keep in mind there are others out there who take offence at such terms.
But if you're looking for sad, gripping books, I would suggest Scars, by Cheryl Reinfeild. It's a very good book (though the end is a bit silly) but I would not suggest reading it if you are homophobic or feel refrences to sexual abuse or graphic cutting would 'trigger' you. So here is an offical *TRIGGER WARNING*
Anyway, I did enjoy most of the books you have listed there.

i agree with you emo is not how someone dresses its more than that and i can relate with you because i dress in my own way and its not all black and dark colors but its my own style and just because someone does that to themselves doesnt mean there emo

i agree with you because this book has helped me get through tough times when i thought no one was there to help so i totally understand how it feels

Therealbadkitty I assume that you are young and don't have any bad intentions but using the word emo as a substitute word for people suffering from mental illness is extremely disrespectful and triggering to those still going through the tough times.

Shelby Ok stop using the word "emo" its just so freaking annoying and come on lets be real. "emos" are people who are in that stage of "oh i don't know who I am so if I pretend to cut I will get attention"

I totally agree with you on this.
